HAVANA GOLD (IRE) - 2010 bay horse

Galileo's (by Sadler's Wells) dominance in the stallion ranks is remarkable and the first wave of his grandsons is on the way. Group 1-winning miler Havana Gold, who stands at Tweenhills Farm & Stud in Gloucestershire, is among them and he has 100 known representatives in his first crop.

A talented two-year-old whose only defeat from five completed starts (he unseated once) was a head defeat in a valuable sales race over seven furlongs at Newmarket, he was also precocious and made a winning debut over six furlongs in early June of that year.

He chased home Toronado in the Group 3 Craven Stakes on his seasonal reappearance, was only beaten by three-parts of a length when fifth to Style Vendome in a blanket finish for the Group 1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas), was fourth behind Magician in the Group 1 Irish 2000 Guineas, and then won the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly.

Havana Gold is the best among several winners out of the talented sprinter Jessica's Dream (by Desert Style). She won seven times, including the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes and Group 3 Premio Omenoni, she was third in the Group 2 Flying Five, and she is a half-sister to Majors Cast (by Victory Note), a listed scorer who was placed in both the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes and Group 1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp.

Ziffany (by Taufan), the winning grandam of Havana Gold, is out of an unraced half-sister to the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes scorer Hanu (by Hot Spark) and also to No Reservations (by Commanche Run), who is the stakes-placed dam of the pattern-placed multiple sprint stakes winner Hot Tin Roof (by Thatching).

If you go back to the fifth generation of the family you will find a branch that leads to triple Group/Grade 1 star Millkom (by Cyrano de Bergerac), but his relationship to Havana Gold is remote.
