Fort Larned a star grandson of the brilliant Bayakoa

FORT LARNED (USA) - 2008 bay horse

Unplaced in his only start at two and winner of a maiden and two allowance races from nine starts at three, Fort Larned hit the top at four and five years of age, becoming a triple Grade 1 star and earning over $4.47 million. He stands at Adena Springs in Kentucky, he covered 78 mares in his first season and 88 in his second.

He is the best representative of of the Grade 2 Suburban Handicap and Grade 2 Dwyer Stakes winner E Dubai (by Mr Prospector), his winning siblings include the dual Grade 1-placed filly Izarra (by Distorted Humor), and his dam, Arlucea (by Broad Brush) is the only winner among four foals out of the outstanding multiple champion Bayakoa (by Consultant's Bid).
 
A classic-placed Grade 1 star in her native Argentina, Bayakoa won the Grade 1 Apple Blossom Handicap, Grade 1 Vanity Handicap, Grade 1 Ruffian Handicap, Grade 1 Santa Maria Handicap and two editions of each of the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Distaff, Grade 1 Santa Margarita Handicap, Grade 1 Spinster Stakes, and Grade 1 Milady Handicap.
 
Her unraced daughter Trinity Place (by Strawberry Road) also came up with a star at stud as she is the dam of Affluent (by Affirmed). That chestnut 'only' won eight races, compared to her aunt's 21, but they included the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes, Grade 1 La Brea Stakes, Grade 1 Ramona Handicap, Grade 1 Santa Monica Handicap, Grade 2 Hollywood Oaks and Grade 2 El Encino Stakes, and she was six-times Grade 1 placed.
