Champion racehorse and dynasty-making stallion A.P. Indy (by Seattle Slew) is the sire of Grade 1 winner Take Charge Indy, a WinStar Farm stallion who covered 145 mares in his first season and 151 in his second.

He won over six furlongs at two and was Grade 3-placed over a mile that year, took the Grade 1 Florida Derby over nine furlongs at three and added the Grade 2 Alysheba Stakes, over eight and a half furlongs, at four. He won the latter by six lengths.

A son of triple Grade 1 star Take Charge Lady (by Dehere), he is a half-brother to three-year-old champion Will Take Charge (by Unbridled's Song), who won the Grade 1 Travers Stakes and Grade 1 Clark Handicap and was runner-up in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Classic, and his siblings also include Charming (by Seeking The Gold), the winning dam of juvenile filly champion and dual Grade 1 star Take Charge Brandi (by Giant's Causeway).

Take Charge Lady is a half-sister to the graded-placed stakes winners Commendation (by Capote) and Eventail (by Lear Fan), her unraced dam Felicita (by Rubiano) is a half-sister to Group 1 Middle Park Stakes third Northern Tryst (by Northern Baby).

​Third dam Grand Bonheur (by Blushing Groom) was a half-sister to God's Mark (by Little Current), who won the Matt Gallagher Sprint Stakes and was runner-up in each of the Group 3 Greenlands Stakes, Listed Ballycorus Stakes and Listed John of Gaunt Stakes.

Indy (by Seattle Slew) and out of the prolific Grade 1 star Sightseek (by Distant View), he certainly has the pedigree to spring a few surprises.

His dam won seven times at the highest level, her half-sister Tates Creek (by Rahy) won both the Grade 1 Yellow Ribbon Stakes and Grade 1 Gamely Breeders' Cup Handicap), and their sibling Quest To Peak (by Distant View) is the dam of one of the luckiest fillies of the modern era.

Special Duty (by Hennessy) won the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes as a two-year-old and was crowned champion of her sex that year. Her record shows that she completed a classic double at three, taking both the Group 1 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and the Group 1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas) at Longchamp, but she was actually pipped by Jacqueline Quest in the former and by Liliside in the latter, and got both races in the stewards' room.
