DABIRSIM (FR) - 2009 bay horse

The joint top-rated juvenile in Europe in 2011, this grandson of Japanese dynasty-maker Sunday Silence (by Halo) lost his undefeated record on his three-year-old reappearance, when short-headed by Dragon Pulse in the Group 3 Prix de Fontainebleau over a mile at Longchamp. A month later he was only beaten by about half a length when sixth to Lucayan in a blanket-finish for the Group 1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas) and he did not race again.

He spent two seasons at Gestut Karlshof in Germany and then moved to Haras de Grandcamp in France in 2016. He has been hugely popular with breeders, has been doing well at the yearling sales, and he looks a likely sort to get some smart juveniles, plus those who stay up to 10 furlongs at three.

His dam is a half-sister to the Group 3 Premio Guido Berardelli winner Fathayer (by Volponi), his grandam is the Group 1 Oaks d'Italia winner and Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes runner-up Bright Generation (by Rainbow Quest), and that classic star's siblings include Centinela (by Caerleon), the dam of listed scorer and broodmare superstar Holy Moon (by Hernando).

That mare's third foal, Cherry Collect (by Oratorio), won the Group 2 Oaks d'Italia, as did her fourth foal, Charity Line (by Manduro), and fifth foal, Final Score (by Dylan Thomas). The latter pair both won the Group 1 Premio Lydia Tesio, their younger half-sister Wordless (by Rock of Gibraltar) is a listed scorer and their half-brother Magic Mystery (by Pour Moi) listed placed.

Dabirsim's fourth dam, Madina (by Beau Prince II), won the Prix Morny in 1967, her progeny included the classic-placed dual Group 3 scorer Nonoalca (by Nonoalco), and that one went on to become the dam of leading US juvenile Great Navigator (by Gulch), who won the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes.
