Guilt Trip stands at Red River Farms in Louisiana, where he covered 57 mares in his first season and 56 in his second, and although it is unlikely that he will have many runners on the big stage, or in Europe, his pedigree is one that will be familiar to many on this side of the Atlantic. The son of influential stallion Pulpit (by A.P. Indy) is out of triple winner Mysterieuse Etoile (by Quiet American), a half-sister to stakes winner and minor blacktype sire Salty Sea (by Siberian Express) and of Regrete Rien (by Unbridled's Song), the unplaced dam of Group 2 Superlative Stakes scorer and Group 2 Champagne Stakes third Silver Grecian (by Haafhd). His grandam, Rose Indien (by Crystal Glitters), won the Listed Hopeful Stakes in England, she is a half-sister to Group 2 Prix du Conseil de Paris winner Majorien (by Machiavellian) and to Group 2 Prix de Malleret winner America (by Arazi), and the latter is the dam of Group 1 Melbourne Cup hero Americain (by Dynaformer). Their siblings also include Green Field Park (by Akarad), the grandam of Group 1 scorer Elliptique (by New Approach) who took up stallion duties at Haras de Cercy this year. GUILT TRIP (USA) - b.2009 - Pulpit - Mysterieuse Etoile, 3 wins inc Strub Stakes (Gr2), 3rd San Fernando Stakes (Gr2), Mervyn LeRoy Handicap (Gr2). Sire in USA. First foals in 2016. Dual Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile hero Goldencents (by Into Mischief) represents the Storm Cat (by Storm Bird) sire line, he stands at Spendthrift Farm in Kentucky, and he has been hugely popular since taking up stallion duties.
His blacktype wins also featured the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby, in which he beat Flashback, he was a Grade 1-placed Grade 3 scorer at around a mile at two, and the top-level events in which he was placed included chasing home Palace Malice in the 'Met Mile'. This $3 million earner covered 179 mares in his first season, 190 in his second, and he has the potential to become one of the notable members of this group of stallions despite the comparatively weak distaff side of his pedigree. Large crops reduce the chance for any stallion to achieve a high percentage of stakes winners to foals born (10%+), and although Goldencents looks unlikely to achieve that sort of blacktype strike rate, he should be capable of getting winners at all levels.
The bay is the best winner out of dual four-year-old scorer Golden Works (by Banker's Gold) and that half-sister to winners is out of the prolific Body Works (by Bold Ruckus). That 18-time scorer ran from two to six years of age and was a multiple stakes winner.
Kinto (by Kinsman Hope), the third dam of Goldencents, was a stakes-placed winner of 13 races from two to fives years of age, and the fourth dam, Where To (by Hidden Treasure), was an unraced half-sister to Mostly Sunny (by Sunny), the six-time scorer who gave us 1983's Grade 1 Kentucky Derby hero Sunny's Halo (by Halo). GOLDENCENTS (USA) - b.2010 - Into Mischief - Golden Works, 7 wins inc Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (Gr1-twice), Santa Anita Derby (Gr1), Pat O'Brien Stakes (Gr2), Sham Stakes (Gr3), Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes (Gr3), 2nd Metropolitan Handicap (Gr1), Bing Crosby Stakes (Gr1-twice), Santa Anita Sprint Championship Stakes (Gr1-twice), Champagne Stakes (Gr1), Pat O'Brien Stakes (Gr2). Flashback, who stands at Hill 'N' Dale Farms in Kentucky, is a son of outstanding sire Tapit (by Pulpit) and he was among the most popular new addition to the stallion ranks in 2015. He covered 157 mares in his first season and 115 in his second.
He won a seven-furlong maiden special weight by three and a half lengths on his only start as a juvenile, was odds-on when a wide-margin winner of the Grade 2 Robert B Lewis Stakes over eight and a half furlongs at Santa Anita, and was runner-up to Goldencents in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby over a half-furlong farther at the same venue.
Flashback is out of the triple three-year-old winner Rhumb Line (by Mr Greeley) and that makes him a full-brother to Grade 1 Lady's Secret Stakes and Grade 1 Las Virgenes Stakes heroine Zazu. He is also a half-brother to listed scorer Corinthian's Jewel (by Corinthian) and to Group 2 Cherry Hinton Stakes runner-up Art Princess (by Officer).
His third dam, Rosy Spectre (by Nijinsky), was one of several stakes winners out of smart juvenile Like A Charm (by Pied d'Or) and those siblings include Grade 3 scorer Herecomesthebride (by Al Hattab). FLASHBACK (USA) - gr/ro.2010 - Tapit - Rhumb Line, by Mr. Greeley, 2 wins inc Robert B Lewis Stakes (Gr2), 2nd Santa Anita Derby (Gr1), San Felipe Stakes (Gr3), Damascus Stakes (L), 3rd Ack Ack Handicap (Gr3). Fed Biz is by the multiple champion sire Giant's Causeway (by Storm Cat), whose stallion sons include the outstanding Irish-based Shamardal, and he comes from a famous stallion-producing family.
These attributes, combined with a racing career that saw him win three times at Grade 2 level, including a track-record performance when defeating Goldencents in the Pat O'Brien Stakes on the polytrack at Del Mar, make it understandable why he has been so popular. Fed Biz stands at WinStar Farm in Kentucky, he covered 147 mares in his first season and 128 in his second. He won one of his two starts as a juvenile, was a Grade 2-placed stakes winner at three, and at his best at four and five years of age.
He is a half-brother to Spun Silk (by A.P. Indy), who is the stakes-winning dam of Grade 1 Vosburgh Stakes scorer Joking (by Distorted Humor), and his dam is a stakes-winning half-sister to three horses of note, one of them being Grade 2 King's Bishop Stakes winner and leading sire Tale Of The Cat (by Storm Cat).
Their half-brother Minardi (by Boundary) won both the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes and Group 1 Middle Park Stakes and was placed in the Group 1 Irish 2000 Guineas, and their half-sister Myth (by Ogygian) is the winning dam of Johannesburg (by Hennessy), juvenile champion in both Europe and the USA before going on to become a sire of note. Yarn (by Mr Prospector), the grandam of Fed Biz, is a full-sister to Grade 1 Frizette Stakes heroine Preach, who is the dam of Group 2 scorer and influential sire Pulpit (by A.P. Indy), and the next dam is Narrate (by Honest Pleasure). She was a Grade 3-winning half-sister to several blacktype scorers, including Grade 3 winner and blacktype sire Announce (by Forty Niner), and her grandam – who is the fifth dam of Fed Biz – was Monarchy (by Princequillo), winner of the Arlington Lassie Stakes and a full-sister to influential stallion, Horse of the Year and multiple US champion Round Table. Drill earned blacktype every year from two to five but got all of his wins in his first two seasons. He was best from seven to eight and a half furlongs, and this son of the top-class Lawyer Ron represents the Danzig sire line.
His top-level win came in the seven-furlong Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity, in which he came late and wide to beat Creative Cause by a length on polytrack. That subsequently classic-placed colt reversed the placings when they met again the Grade 1 Norfolk Stakes three weeks later but was again behind when Drill won the Grade 2 San Vincente Stakes four and a half months after that. He stands at Get Away Farm in Florida, covered 79 mares in his first season and 57 in his second.
Drill is the best of several winners out of Cat Dancer (by Storm Cat), a winning full-sister to Grade 1-placed Grade 2 Monmouth Oaks heroine Magic Storm, a filly who went on to produce Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup star Lachesis (by Deep Impact) and this year's Grade 1 Yasuda Kinen scorer Satono Aladdin (by Deep Impact) in Japan.
His third dam, Water Dance (by Nijinsky), was a Grade 2-placed stakes winner and half-sister to champion and dual classic star Little Current (by Sea Bird II). Her half-sister Prayers'N Promises (by Foolish Pleasure) was the Grade 1-winning dam of high-class European sprinter Nabeel Dancer (by Northern Dancer), and the variety of other stakes winners who descend from her siblings include the Group 3 Coventry Stakes scorer Cutting Blade (by Sharpo). Luiana (by My Babu), the fourth dam of Drill, was a half-sister to Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes hero Chateaugay (by Swaps) and also to Primonetta (by Swaps), the champion and 17-time winner whose offspring feature the Grade 1 stars Cum Laude Laurie (by Hail To Reason) and Prince Thou Art (by Hail To Reason). DRILL (USA) - b.2009 - Lawyer Ron - Cat Dancer, 4 wins inc Del Mar Futurity (Gr1), San Vincente Stakes (Gr2), Lazaro Barrera Memorial Stakes (Gr3), 2nd Norfolk Stakes (Gr1), Northern Spur Stakes (L), 3rd San Pasqual Stakes (Gr2), Governor's Cup Handicap (L), Big Bear Stakes (L). Sire in USA. First foals in 2016.
YEARLINGS CATALOGUED:
c - Homesteader (by Pioneering) Fasig-Tipton KY July not sold c - Joalshecon (by Housebuster) Texas Thoroughbred Association Aug not sold Last Train, one of the best runners by Group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe scorer Rail Link (by Dansili), won the Group 3 Prix de Barbeville, he was runner-up in the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris, and he covered his first mares at Haras de l'Abbaye in France. He is one of four stakes winners out of the Group 3 Lancashire Oaks heroine Rainbow Lake (by Rainbow Quest) and although they include the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup and Grade 1 Arlington Million scorer Powerscourt (by Sadler's Wells) – whose handful of stakes-winning progeny includes US Grade 1 victor and Californian-based stallion Finnegans Wake (first foals in 2018) – it is one of the others who has made the most notable contribution. Two of the talented quartet are fillies and the better one on the track was Riposte (by Dansili). She won the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot before going on to add a pair of Grade 2 contests in the USA. The other one, however, is Kind (by Danehill), the pattern-placed dual listed race winner whose first five foals are, in birth order, Bullet Train (by Sadler's Wells), Frankel (by Galileo), Noble Mission (by Galileo), Morpheus (by Oasis Dream) and Joyeuse (by Oasis Dream). Frankel, of course, needs no introduction and the Timeform 147-rated superstar has already sired 13 individual pattern winners from his first two crops, including Japanese champion and classic heroine Soul Stirring and dual Derby-placed runaway Group 2 scorer Cracksman. Group 3 scorer Bullet Train is a blacktype sire with his first three-year-olds, multiple Group 1 star Noble Mission and non-blacktype earner Morpheus have their first yearlings now, and pattern-placed dual stakes-winning sprinter Joyeuse is a young broodmare. Last Train was neither as precocious, talented nor speedy as his better-known relations and he has not received anything like the support that they have done. It seems likely that his best runners may be National Hunt horses. YEARLINGS CATALOGUED:

The late Ashford Stud stallion Scat Daddy (by Johannesburg) is best known in Europe for his sprint stars Acapulco, Caravaggio, Lady Aurelia, No Nay Never, and Sioux Nation but his leading performers in North and South America include many milers and even middle-distance horses.
Daddy Nose Best, who won nine of his 25 starts from two to five years of age, was best from eight to nine furlongs and this six-time stakes winner won three times at Grade 3 level. The most valuable of the latter was the nine-furlong Sunland Derby in which he stayed on well to catch Isn't He Clever near the line. That was on dirt, each of his three listed race wins, plus the eight and a half-furlong Grade 3 contest he won as a five-year-old, were on turf, and it would be interesting to see how his progeny might fare in Europe, if any make the journey.
He is the best of several winners out of a placed mare called Follow Your Bliss (by Thunder Gulch), his grandam is the Grade 2 Dahlia Handicap and Grade 3 Violet Handicap scorer Follow The Money (by Pine Bluff) – both of those races were on turf – and that talented performer was one of three stakes winners out of a placed mare named Money Player (by Marshua's Dancer).
There are some minor blacktype horses in the fourth generation of the pedigree and a variety of stakes winners in the fifth, although those horses are, of course, remotely connected to this young Scat Daddy stallion. He was a Grade 3-placed dual winner at around a mile as a two-year-old, so does not look a likely source of precocious sprint juveniles, but despite the somewhat weak nature of the distaff side of his pedigree, it would be no surprise to see him get some stakes and graded winners. DADDY NOSE BEST (USA) - b.2009 - Scat Daddy - Follow Your Bliss, 9 wins inc Sunland Derby (Gr3), El Camino Real Derby (Gr3), Colonel E.R. Bradley Handicap (Gr3), Remington Green Stakes (L), Edward J. Cross Traffic, winner of a strong edition of the nine-furlong Grade 1 Whitney Invitational Handicap, clocked Beyer figures of 116 and 110 during his brief career, one that spanned just six starts and all of them at the age of four.
His two blacktype seconds were defeats by just a nose and a head, in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap and Grade 3 Westchester Stakes respectively – both over a mile – and it is no surprise that he has been such a popular member of the team at Spendthrift Farm in Kentucky, where he covered 123 mares in his first season and 106 in his second.
The son of leading sire Unbridled's Song (by Unbridled) is out of the prolific Stop Traffic (by Cure The Blues), a mare whose dozen wins featured the Grade 1 Ballerina Handicap and Grade 1 Santa Monica Handicap.
His siblings include the stakes winners Exodus (by Medaglia d'Oro) and Thirteen Arrows (by Indian Charlie), and his grandam is Save My Soul (by I'ma Hell Raiser) whose six successful offspring also included the Grade 3-placed dual stakes winning filly and blacktype producer Bionic Soul (by Bionic Light). There are other stakes winners to be found in branches of the second and fourth generations of his family, but nothing approaching the talent of Cross Traffic or of his dam. Although he did not race until the age of four, there is no reason why he should not be capable of getting some talented juveniles along with the notable three-year-olds and older horses that look likely to feature among his early crops. CROSS TRAFFIC (USA) - gr/ro.2009 - Unbridled's Song - Stop Traffic, 3 wins inc Whitney Invitational Handicap (Gr1), 2nd Metropolitan Handicap (Gr1), Westchester Stakes (Gr3). Sire in USA. Central Banker, a son of sprint champion and notably successful stallion Speightstown (by Gone West), is a McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds stallion, he covered 115 mares in his first season and 99 in his second.
He was a stakes-placed dual winner as a two-year-old, a five and a half-furlong listed scorer on turf and placed in both the Grade 1 Malibu Stakes and Grade 1 King's Bishop Stakes at three, and he took the Grade 2 Churchill Downs Stakes over seven furlongs as a four-year-old.
He is out of the multiple stakes winner Rhum (by Go For Gin), which makes him a half-brother to the Grade 2 Smile Sprint Handicap scorer Gantry (by Pulpit), and the best of his dam's siblings is Private Emblem (by Our Emblem), winner of the Grade 2 Arkansas Derby in 2002 but, sadly, fatally injured two years later.
You have to go back to the fifth generation to find the next blacktype winners in the family although they include the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap winner and leading New York sire Dixie Brass (by Dixieland Band). Stallion sons of Speightstown include Group 1 scorer Lord Shanakill (sire of Group 1 Prince of Wales's Stakes winner My Dream Boat) and, more notably, Ashford Stud's Grade 2 winner Munnings, whose string of stakes-winning offspring include the Grade 1 scorers I'm A Chatterbox and El Deal. Central Banker should be capable of getting winners in all age groups and, given his racing record and pedigree, he looks likely to get his best results from sprinters and milers. With the right mares, however, it is possible that he could get some who will stay 10 furlongs. CENTRAL BANKER (USA) - b.2010 - Speightstown - Rhum, 4 wins inc Churchill Downs Stakes (Gr2), Quick Call Stakes (L), 2nd Malibu Stakes (Gr1), Thanksgiving Handicap (L), Kentucky Downs Juvenile Stakes (L), 3rd King's Bishop Stakes (Gr1). Sire in USA. First foals in 2016.
