Nutan is a classic-winning grandson of Danehill

NUTAN (IRE) - 2012 bay horse

A classic-winning son of the now South Africa-based, regally related multiple Group 1 star Duke Of Marmalade (by Danehill), Nutan took the Group 1 Deutsches Derby by five lengths on good ground, he stands in Germany and seems unlikely to have many runners outside of that country over the next couple of years.

He is a half-brother to middle-distance Group 1 heroine Nymphea (by Dylan Thomas) and also to Navaro Girl (by Holy Roman Emperor), the 10-furlong Group 3 scorer who finished third to Nonza in the Group 1 Darley Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville last month.

His dam, Neele (by Peintre Celebre), was a head runner-up in an 11-furlong Group 3 on soft ground at Hamburg, and her siblings feature Group 2 Oaks d’Italia winner Night Of Magic (by Peintre Celebre), the dam of classic-placed dual Group 1 Preis von Europa heroine Nightflower (by Dylan Thomas).

Grandam Night Teeny (by Platini) also has a star sibling as she is a half-sister to Night Petticoat (by Petoski), the Group 2 Preis der Diana (German Oaks)-winning dam of Group 1 Deutsches Derby hero Next Desert (by Desert Style) and of Group 1 Preis der Diana winner Next Gina (by Perugino).

The latter died young, but her dual stakes-winning daughter Nina Celebre (by Peintre Celebre) is the dam of Hong Kong Group 1 star and multi-millionaire Pakistan Star (by Shamardal).

All of this makes Gestut Lindenhof stallion Nutan an interesting prospect and it would be no surprise to see him get some good results in Germany.
