A grandson of the juvenile star and brilliant Group 1 2000 Guineas winner Zafonic (by Gone West), Xtension is the best son of 1997's two-year-old champion Xaar and although he did not share their brilliance at two, he was Timeform 116-rated at that age having won the Group 2 Vintage Stakes and been placed in both the Group 2 Coventry Stakes and Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes.
He finished fourth to Makfi in the Group 1 2000 Guineas and then third to Dick Turpin in the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat, he was sent out to Hong Kong a few months later and became a dual Group 1 star there, taking the BMW Champions' Mile at Sha Tin at both four and five years of age. Timeform rated him 123. He was third to Able One in the Group 1 Hong Kong Mile and he was placed in several of the region's top non-pattern events, races such as the Hong Kong Derby, Stewards' Cup and Hong Kong Gold Cup, which carry only local top-level status, rather than international status, thereby counting only as listed events.
Xtension, who covered 31 mares in his first season at Rathbarry Stud, is out of Great Joy (by Grand Lodge), the stakes-placed grandam of this year's Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes winner Harry Angel (by Dark Angel). She is a half-sister to listed scorer A La Carte (by Caerleon) and also to the dam of Group 1-placed juvenile stakes winner Wathab (by Cadeaux Genereux).
Cheese Soup (by Spectacular Bid), the unraced grandam of Xtension, was out of the prolific Avum (by Umbrella Fella), a blacktype scorer whose progeny included Grade 2 scorer Minneapple (by Riverman), pattern-placed stakes winner Lyphard's Princess (by Lyphard) and also the Grade 3 scorer and notable broodmare Baroness Direct (by Blushing Groom). What makes that mare of interest is that her Grade 1-placed daughter Immerse (by Cox's Ridge) became the dam of Grade 1 star and somewhat successful sire Stephen Got Even (by A.P. Indy) and she is the grandam of the dual Grade 1-winning filly Artemis Agrotera (by Roman Ruler). Lyphard's Princess, on the other hand, was the dam of Grade 2 Ohio Derby scorer Private Man (by Private Account). Small numbers will not help Xtension's prospects of getting noticed, but given the record that Rathbarry Stud has in coming up with stallions who sire winners at all levels, it would not be a surprise to see him get the occasional high-class performer. XTENSION (IRE) – br.2007 – Xaar – Great Joy, 4 wins inc Champions' Mile (Gr1-twice), Vintage Stakes (Gr2), 2nd Coventry Stakes (Gr2), Hong Kong Classic Mile (L), Hong Kong Derby (L), Hong Kong Gold Cup (L), Sha Tin Trophy (L), Stewards' Cup (L), 3rd Hong Kong Mile (Gr1), Prix Jean Prat (Gr1), Dewhurst Stakes (Gr1), Jockey Club Mile (Gr2), Hong Kong Gold Cup (L). Sire in Ireland. First foals in 2016.

Danzig (by Northern Dancer) was one of the world's greatest stallions and there are two major branches of his line dominant in Europe, those forged by Danehill and Green Desert.
It is too early yet to know a third one might develop from among his final sons to go to stud, but with an ever-growing list of pattern winners on both sides of the Atlantic, and with his initial stallion sons including The Factor - one of four current freshman sires with a Group/Grade 1 winner to their name so far, in Europe or the USA, in 2016 (the others are Gemologist, Helmet, and Union Rags) - there is a chance that War Front could achieve that feat. War Command was among his early racing stars in Europe and the Timeform 120p-rated juvenile star was one of the most popular new stallions last year, covering 152 mares at Coolmore Stud. He made a winning debut over seven furlongs at Leopardstown in early June, took the Group 2 Coventry Stakes by six lengths, added a three-length score in the Group 2 Futurity Stakes and rounded off the year with defeat of Cable Bay in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes. His only defeat that year was a shock third-place finish to Sudirman in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes.
War Command ran only three times as a three-year-old, earning a Timeform rating of 119 despite not making the frame in any of those appearances. His best placing was fourth behind Kingman in the Group 1 St James's Palace Stakes at Ascot, in which he was beaten by three and three-quarter lengths.
A half-brother to the Group 3 Prix de Conde scorer Naval Officer (by Tale of The Cat), War Command is the best of nine winners out of the Grade 2 E P Taylor Stakes scorer Wandering Star (by Red Ransom), a full-sister to the dam of New Zealand's 2011/12 juvenile champion and subsequent classic star Rollout The Carpet (by Holy Roman Emperor). His grandam, Beautiful Bedouin (by His Majesty), was an unraced daughter of the Prix Jacques le Marois heroine Gris Vitesse (by Americo) and that made her a half-sister to the dual Derby-placed pattern scorer and leading sire Silver Hawk (by Roberto). Having a successful stallion in the family augurs well for War Command's prospects, especially when that classic sire is somewhat closely related to his dam, Wandering Star, and, of course, this is added to the attraction of him being a Group 1-winner by a leading son of Danzig. War Command looks like a leading candidate for 2018's champion freshman sire title race and, if he lives up to the promise of his pedigree, he could become a source of classic and other top performers at around eight to 10 furlongs. WAR COMMAND (USA) – b.2011 – War Front – Wandering Star, 4 wins inc Dewhurst Stakes (Gr1), Futurity Stakes (Gr2), Coventry Stakes (Gr2), 3rd Phoenix Stakes (Gr1). Sire in Ireland. Whytemount Stud, in Co Kilkenny, had a lot of success in recent years through the exploits of their star stallion Stowaway (by Slip Anchor). He died in February 2015, his progeny include standouts such as Champagne Fever, Hidden Cyclone, Outlander and Western Leader, and although the team's new stallion is no relation of his, there is every reason to hope that he too can become a National Hunt sire of note.
Valirann, a son of the regally-related Group 1 star and Group 1 sire Nayef (by Gulch), is a half-brother to Valyra (by Azamour), the undefeated star who, tragically, died shortly after her Group 1 Prix de Diane (French Oaks) victory in 2012. He is also a half-brother to the multiple blacktype-placed filly Valasyra (by Sinndar), who had the misfortune to be disqualified after passing the post first in a Group 3 contest at Saint-Cloud, and he is a half-brother to the pattern-placed stakes winner Valiyr (by Alhaarth).
Their dam, Valima (by Linamix), was a lightly-raced seven-furlong listed scorer in France and she, in turn, is out of Vadlawsya (by Always Fair), a winning full-sister to the Group 2 Prix Hocquart winner Vadlawys and half-sister to 2001's Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Mile star Val Royal (by Royal Academy).
Val Royal, who shuttled to South America, died young but those he left behind include nine Group/Grade 1 winners, among a total of 20 individual stakes winners, with the best-known of them, to European racegoers, being the dual Guineas hero Cockney Rebel. Mile listed scorer Vadlamixa (by Linamix), a half-sister to Val Royal and Vadlawsya, has done her part for the family by becoming the dam of the Group 1 Prix d'Ispahan and Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes winner Valixir (by Trempolino) and also of two blacktype daughters who have also achieved top-level success at stud. Celebre Vadala (by Peintre Celebre) is the stakes-winning dam of this year's Group 1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp scorer Vadamos (by Monsun), who is taking up stallion duties at Tally-Ho Stud in 2017, while Vadaza (by Zafonic) is the dam of the Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary heroines Vadawina (by Unfuwain) and Vazira (by Sea The Stars) and also of the dual Group 3 scorer Vadapolina (by Trempolino). With family connections like these, combined with a race record that saw him win four times from five starts, including two important stayers' races in France, it is no surprise that Valirann covered 114 mares in his first season. VALIRANN (FR) – b.2010 – Nayef – Valima, 4 wins inc Prix Chaudenay (Gr2), Prix de Lutece (Gr3). Sire in Ireland. First foals in 2016.

An unbeaten seven-furlong juvenile Group 2 scorer whom Timeform rated 113p, Toronado became one of the leading milers in Europe at three and four years of age.
One of the fastest and best sons of the dual Derby and dual Breeders' Cup Turf hero High Chaparral (by Sadler's Wells), he stands at the National Stud in Newmarket and covered 152 mares in his first season. He also shuttles to Swettenham Stud in Australia. He beat Havana Gold by four lengths in the Group 3 Craven Stakes on his seasonal reapperance at three, finished fourth behind Dawn Approach in the Group 1 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, and then failed narrowly against that same rival in the Group 1 St James's Palace Stakes at Ascot before gaining his revenge with a half-length win against the chestnut in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes. Timeform rated him 133 at three and 127 at four, the latter a season that began with defeat of Verrazano in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Ascot. He then chased home Kingman in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes, was pipped by Charm Spirit in the Group 1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp and was favourite when finishing down the field behind Karakontie in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Mile on his final start.
His dam, Wana Doo (by Grand Slam), won twice in France, she is a half-sister to the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy winner and successful 2016 freshman sire Casamento (by Shamardal), and she is out of Wedding Gift (by Always Fair), who was a pattern-placed stakes winner in France.
Those who appear in branches of the third generation of the family include the Australian Group 1 scorers French Clock (by Rancho Ruler) and Heart Of Dreams (by Show A Heart), both of who are geldings. Such Style (by Sassafras), Toronado's third dam, was a half-sister to the Grade 1-placed Group 2 Prix Hocquart scorer Regency (by Dancing Brave) and also to Britannia's Rule (by Blakeney), the Oaks-placed Listed Lupe Stakes winner who produced four stakes-winners at stud and whose descendants include the Group 3 Rockfel Stakes winner Name Of Love (by Petardia). The useful first-season results compiled by Casamento, who looks likely to do better with his three-year-olds than with juveniles, offer encouragement also for the prospects of Toronado, even though the pair represents different sire lines. He looks likely to get some good freshman results in 2018 even though his best results are also likely to come with three-year-olds and older horses. TORONADO (IRE) – b.2010 – High Chaparral – Wana Doo, 6 wins inc Sussex Stakes (Gr1), Queen Anne Stakes (Gr1), Champagne Stakes (Gr2), Craven Stakes (Gr3), Winkfield Stakes (L), 2nd Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (Gr1), Sussex Stakes (Gr1), St James's Palace Stakes (Gr1). Winner over six furlongs at Dundalk on the second of two starts as a juvenile, Slade Power was a lightly-rated dual stakes winner at three - earning a Timeform rating of 113 - but went on to become one of Europe's top sprinters as an older horse.
His best of three pattern wins as a four-year-old came in the Group 2 British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot, he finished the year on a Timeform rating of 125 and then came back at five to win three of his four starts: the Group 3 Greenlands Stakes, Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes, and Group 1 July Cup - moving up to a Timeform mark of 127.
One of two Group 1-winning sons of Cheveley Park Stud stallion Dutch Art (by Medicean) who have their first foals in 2016 - the other is Garswood - Slade Power stands at Kildangan Stud and he had been very popular with breeders, covering 148 mares in his first season.
His winning dam Girl Power (by Key of Luck) is a full-sister to the stakes-placed Key Rose, his third dam is the Group 3 Premio Primi Passi scorer Balqis (by Advocator), and the blacktype winners who appear under the fourth generation of the family include Grade 1 Hollywood Derby scorer Slew The Dragon (by Seattle Slew), his Grade 2-winning full-brother Slew The Night and Grade 2-placed brother Seattle Knight, each of whom had some success at stud from limited opportunities. Slade Power's pedigree makes him something of an unknown quantity as a potential sire of stakes and pattern winners, but his top-class racing record, the support he has received, and being a Machiavellian-line stallion from a blacktype family makes him a fascinating prospect. The victory of Sea The Moon in 2014's Group 1 Deutsches Derby at Hamburg was one of the most visually impressive performances of recent years as he beat the subsequent Group 1 scorer Lucky Lion by 11 lengths, extending his undefeated record to four.
He two-length defeat by Ivanhowe in the Group 1 Grosser Preis von Baden two months later was almost as shocking as his classic victory was exciting, but an excuse emerged and he was retired. He stands at Kirsten Rausing's famous Lanwades Stud in Newmarket and he covered 132 mares in his first season.
A first-crop son of the Timeform 140-rated Arc, Guineas and dual Derby hero Sea The Stars (by Cape Cross), he is out of Sanwa (by Monsun), an unraced full-sister to the Group 1 Deutsches Derby heroes Samum and Schiaparelli and to the Deutsches Derby-placed Group 1 Preis der Diana (German Oaks) star Salve Regina.
Salve Regina's daughter Salve Germania (by Peintre Celebre) is a Grade 2 winner in the USA, her full-sister Sahel (by Monsun) is the dam of Group 1 Premio Lydia Tesio scorer Sortilege (by Tiger Hill), and half-sister sister Sasuela (by Dashing Blade) is the dam of Group 1 Grosser Preis von Bayern winner Seismos (by Dalakhani). These classic stars and top broodmares are all out of Sacarina (by Old Vic), an unraced half-sister to Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes third Brave Owen (by Welsh Pageant) and out of a four-times successful daughter of the German mile classic scorer Bravour II (by Birkahn). Sea The Moon represents a branch of the Green Desert (by Danzig) sire line, his sire is a half-brother to Galileo (by Sadler's Wells) and his dam's classic-winning siblings include Samum, a horse who was champion sire in Germany. This Timeform 127-rated champion is a fascinating prospect who could become a notable sire of milers and middle-distance horses. There are several things that make Ruler Of The World one of the most intriguing stallions whose first foals arrived in 2016.
He was unraced at two, won the Group 1 Derby at Epsom on his third start, then failed to win again until six starts later when he beat Flintshire by a length and a half in the Group 2 Prix Foy at Longchamp, and then he was unplaced in two more starts. He won the Group 3 Chester Vase before Epsom, he was third in the Group 1 Champion Stakes on his final start at three, and he earned over £1 million in prize money. The chestnut retired on an official handicap mark of 119, which is strikingly low for a Derby hero, and that was down from a career peak of 122. But Timeform had a different view, rating him 128 at three and 126 at four. His low official rating, disappointing strike-rate on the track, and the initial disappointment at stud of his top-class half-brother Duke Of Marmalade are likely contributing factors to his initial fee of just €15,000, a figure that dropped to €10,000 in 2016. He covered 80 mares in his first season at Coolmore Stud and it was that year in which his sibling had a breakthrough season. Star Of Seville, Nutan and Simple Verse all became Group 1 classic stars for Duke Of Marmalade who, by that point was already at Drakenstein Stud in South Africa, and recently he added another top-level winner to his tally when Sound Of Freedom won the Group 1 Premio Lydia Tesio over 10 furlongs at Capannelle.
Love Me True (by Kingmambo), the pattern-placed dam of Duke Of Marmalade and Ruler Of The World, is a half-sister to the Grade 1-placed Grade 2 scorer Bite The Bullet (by Spectacular Bid), and her dam, listed-placed Lassie's Lady (by Alydar), was out of Lassie Dear (by Buckpasser).
That Grade 3 scorer is the dam of Group 1 Sprint Cup and Group 1 Prix de la Foret winner Wolfhound (by Nureyev), of pattern-placed stakes-winner Foxhound (by Danzig), of Group 1-placed Al Mufti (by Roberto) and of a son named Deerhound (by Danzig). Each of them sired at least one top-level winner at stud, with Al Mufti being a top sire in South Africa. Her daughters are headed by the Grade 1-placed Grade 3 scorer Weekend Surprise (by Secretariat) and she, of course, gave us the US classic stars and classic sires Summer Squall (by Storm Bird) and A.P. Indy (by Seattle Slew), the latter champion sire and founder of a dynasty in the USA. Lassie Dear is also the grandam of the prolific Grade 1 star and leading US sire Lemon Drop Kid (by Kingmambo). These are the highlights of the first three generations of the family, and as Ruler Of The World is a Derby-winning Galileo (by Sadler's Wells) horse from one would imagine that the odds of him siring at least one Group 1 winner must be quite small. The early Galileo stallions include the classic sires Teofilo and New Approach and each of Cima De Triomphe, Heliostatic, Rip Van Winkle, Roderic O'Connor and Soldier Of Fortune have sired at least one winner at the highest level in a Category I country. Ruler Of The World does not look a likely candidate to get many two-year-old winners, although some may be blacktype earners at that age, and it may be that, like his half-brother, the best of his progeny are middle-distance horses and stayers. RULER OF THE WORLD (IRE) – ch.2010 – Galileo – Love Me True, 4 wins inc Derby (Gr1), Prix Foy (Gr2), Chester Vase (Gr3), 2nd Prix Niel (Gr2), 3rd Champion Stakes (Gr1). Sire in Ireland. The Beeches Stud resident covered 310 mares in his first season, and although it is possible that a handful of his early offspring will run on the flat, it is likely that we will not start seeing many of them in action at least until the juvenile hurdles, bumpers and point-to-points of 2019/20. He is out of Crystal Maze (by Gone West), a half-sister to two blacktype horses and out of the Group 1 Fillies' Mile scorer Crystal Music (by Nureyev). She was fourth (no blacktype) in the 1000 Guineas, chased home Imagine in the Group 1 Irish 1000 Guineas and was also runner-up to Banks Hill in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes. Her blacktype siblings include Group 1 Irish Derby third Tchaikovsky (by Sadler's Wells) and the Group 2-placed pattern scorer Dubai Success (by Sadler's Wells), their dam, Crystal Spray (by Beldale Flutter) was a half-sister to the Group 2 winner Crystal Hearted (by Broken Hearted), and if you go back farther then you will find the brilliant Royal Palace (by Ballymoss), among others of note. A leading juvenile who became a top-class miler, Olympic Glory is by the sire of Starspangledbanner and so he represents the powerful Danehill (by Danzig) sire line. He stands at Haras de Bouquetot in Normandy, France, and covered 168 mares in his first season. Timeform rated him 116 at two, 132 at three, and 130 at the age of four.
His winning dam Acidanthera (by Alzao) is a grand-daughter of the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes heroine Amaranda (by Bold Lad IRE), a filly who was runner-up in the Group 1 Flying Childers Stakes and who was rated 115 by Timeform at both two and three years of age.
Her descendants include the Group 1-placed pattern scorers Wootton Rivers (by Woodman) and Magellano (by Miswaki), who stayed middle-distances, plus several stakes winners who were speedy types, and her dam was 1971's Irish 1000 Guineas heroine Favoletta (by Baldric II), also Timeform 115-rated.
Favoletta was the dam of the classic-placed Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes winner Favoridge (by Riva Ridge), her descendants include the Group 2 Premio Parioli (Italian 2000 Guineas) scorer Rattle And Hum (by Celtic Swing) and also the Group 1 Derby-placed Group 1 St Leger star Rule Of Law (by Kingmambo). This is the famous Horama (by Panorama) family that was influential for so long and whose classic stars include Lacquer (by Shantung), Give Thanks (by Relko), Harayir (by Gulch), Teenoso (by Youth) and Sir Percy (by Mark of Esteem), but those horses are so remotely connected to Olympic Glory as to have no relevance to his potential. There is an interesting relation much closer up on the page, one who could easily be missed as he had no blacktype, but the Royal Hunt Cup winner Imperial Ballet (by Sadler's Wells), a half-brother to the grandam of Olympic Glory, sired the Group 1-winning sprinter Imperial Beauty from limited opportunities. So although he represents a somewhat weak branch of what was a famous family, his race record, sire line, breeders support, and that one notable achievement for his male relative combine to suggest that Olympic Glory has the potential to get stakes and pattern winners at all ages, and that he may be capable of getting the occasional one or two that are as talented as he was. OLYMPIC GLORY (IRE) – b.2010 – Choisir – Acidanthera, 8 wins inc Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (Gr1), Lockinge Stakes (Gr1), Prix de la Foret (Gr1), Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere – Grand Criterium (Gr1), Superlative Stakes (Gr2), Vintage Stakes (Gr2), Greenham Stakes (Gr3), 2nd Prix Jacques le Marois (Gr1), Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (Gr1), Coventry Stakes (Gr2), 3rd Prix Jacques le Marois (Gr1). Scat Daddy (by Johannesburg) was a prolific Group/Grade 1 sire in both the northern and southern hemisphere and his premature death just before the start of the 2016 season was a huge loss.
His precocious son No Nay Never, a Group 1 star who was a half-length runner-up to Bobby's Kitten in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint on his final start, was Timeform-rated 118+ at two and 117 at three, he was one of the most popular new recruits in 2015 and he covered 146 mares in his first season for Coolmore Stud. The speed and precocity of No Nay Never, Acapulco and Caravaggio have led some to form a mistaken impression that is what one expects of a Scat Daddy, but, in fact, many of his best results come with his milers and middle-distance horses. He is a stallion who was also capable of getting sprinters and juveniles, and not one who necessarily imposed any such limitations on his progeny's distance range. This will add a potentially interesting dimension to his stallion sons. No Nay Never's race record attracted plenty of speed-oriented mares to him and so we can expect that some of his offspring will be early types and sprinters of all ages. But he also looks likely to get milers, which could, if he becomes a success, open the possibility of him getting classic horses.
His dam, Cat's Eye Witness (by Elusive Quality), won once and has produced two other multiple winners in addition to her star son, and two of her siblings were blacktype scorers in the USA. Her dam, Comical Cat (by Exceller), won four times at three and was placed in the Grade 3 Las Flores Handicap, and that mare's siblings included the Group 2 St James's Palace Stakes winner Half A Year (by Riverman).
His half-brother Winning Pact (by Alydar) won the Grade 2 Del Mar Futurity, their half-brother Half Term (by Mr Prospector) was placed in the Group 3 Beeswing Stakes, and their half-sisters have produced some interesting descendants. One is the grandam of the Grade 1 scorer Tamarando (by Bertrando) and another is an ancestor of the Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes winner So Many Ways (by Sightseeing). The smart colts in the family who got chances at stud did not get anything like the sort of opportunities afforded to No Nay Never, and so they are not really any help in assessing his potential, but some of them, including his dam's Grade 3-winning half-brother Cat's Career (by Mr Prospector) and also the Grade 1-placed Grade 2 scorer Event Of The Year (by Seattle Slew), who is out of Comical Cat's half-sister Classic Event (by Mr Prospector), did get some stakes winners. NO NAY NEVER (USA) – b/br.2011 – Scat Daddy – Cat's Eye Witness, 4 wins inc Prix Morny (Gr1), Norfolk Stakes (Gr2), Keeneland Woodford Stakes (Gr3), 2nd Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (Gr1), Swale Stakes (Gr2). Mukhadram began his career with a one and three-quarter length win in the Wood Ditton Maiden Stakes over a mile at Newmarket and went on to become one of the leading middle-distance horses in Europe.
He lost his unbeaten record when finishing fourth in the Group 3 Tercentenary Stakes at Ascot just two months after making that promising debut, his fifth and final start of the year saw him finish fifth to Bronze Angel in the Cambridgeshire, and Timeform rated him 109p. They rated him 126 at both four and five years of age. He beat the tragically ill-fated Group 1 Irish Derby hero Trading Leather in the Group 1 Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown, also won the Group 2 York Stakes and Group 3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes, chased home African Story in the Group 1 Dubai World Cup and Al Kazeem in the Group 1 Prince of Wales's Stakes, and he was also placed in both the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and in a second edition of the Eclipse. Mukhadram stands at Nunnery Stud and he covered 118 mares in his first season. He is a son of leading international sire Shamardal (by Giant's Causeway), whose early stallion sons feature the Group 1 sire Lope De Vega, and he comes from the family of Volksraad (by Green Desert), multiple champion sire in New Zealand.
His unraced dam Magic Tree (by Timber Country) is a half-sister to Group 1 Gran Criterium scorer Kirklees (by Jade Robbery) and to Group 1 St Leger and Grade 1 Hong Kong Vase hero Mastery (by Sulamani), their half-sister Artisti (by Cape Cross) is the dam of the Group 1-placed dual pattern winner Magic Artist (by Iffraaj), and the next dam is the sprint ace Cherokee Rose.
The fastest representative of Timeform 140-rated superstar and classic sire Dancing Brave (by Lyphard), Cherokee Rose won the Group 1 Sprint Cup and Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest, she was runner-up in the Group 1 Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp, and in addition to being the dam of the classic-placed pattern winner Bowman (by Irish River) and of Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint runner-up Ahtoug (by Byron), she has several daughters who made their name at stud. Moyesii (by Diesis), grandam of Mukhadram, is one of them, obviously, but Hint of Spring (by Seeking The Gold) is the dam of the pattern -placed stakes winner Tulips (by Pivotal), and Cara Bella's (by Seeking The Gold) three Australian-born stakes winners include a Group 3 scorer. The siblings also include Rose de France (by Diktat), and her Group 1-placed, Group 2-winning son Cable Bay (by Invincible Spirit) was one of the most popular new additions to the stallion ranks in 2016, covering 152 mares in his first season at Highclere Stud. The aforementioned Volksraad, who was third in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes before going on to his string of sire championship titles and Group 1-winning offspring, was a half-brother to Cherokee Rose. The latter also has a full-sister of interest as she, Congress, is the grandam of the Grade 1 Cape Guineas winner and Grade 1 Cape Derby runner-up Noordhoek Flyer (by Pivotal), who is at stud in South Africa. Mukhadram was a top-class racehorse, he is by the sire of Lope De Vega, and he comes from the family of multiple champion sire Volksraad, all of which gives him every chance of becoming a stallion of note. There is no reason why he shouldn't be capable of getting two-year-old winners in the second half of the season, including some who could be blacktype horses, although it does seem likely that his best results will be with three-year-olds and older horses and from the time they race over a mile and upwards. That said, if some of that sprinting speed in his family is there to be passed on and if it matches up with the right mares, there could even be a few Mukhadram sprinters from time to time. MUKHADRAM (GB) – b.2009 – Shamardal – Magic Tree, 5 wins inc Coral-Eclipse Stakes (Gr1), York Stakes (Gr2), Brigadier Gerard Stakes (Gr3), 2nd Dubai World Cup (Gr1), Prince of Wales's Stakes (Gr1), 3rd King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Gr1), Coral-Eclipse Stakes (Gr1). That might not sound like the sort of racing record that would secure a colt a place at a leading flat stud farm and that would bring him 142 mares in his first season, but this son of Oasis Dream (by Green Desert) is a half-brother to the undefeated Timeform 147-rated superstar Frankel (by Galileo) and that relationship is what has been his major selling point. Frankel, of course, had his first runners in 2016 and with an impressive strike-rate of winners to runners, and the pattern scorers Fair Eva, Queen Kindly, Toulifaut, and Frankuus among them, as well as the triple stakes-placed Cunco, that Banstead Manor Stud celebrity has made an exciting start as a stallion. None of this guarantees that Morpheus will hit the jackpot, of course, even though a growing number of sons of Oasis Dream are siring stakes winners, but he has received plenty of support, he is at a stud that has a well-established track record of turning non-stakes winning stallions into notably successful sires, and there is every reason to hope that he can be their next success story. Being inbred 3x3 to Danzig (by Northern Dancer) may increase his chance of getting sprinters and talented two-year-olds, although many of his better first-crop juvenile winners may come from the more precociously bred and raced mares, and those with a track record of producing two-year-old winners. It is possible, however, given his racing and pedigree profile, that his best long-term results will come with milers and even 10-furlong horses aged three and upwards, although, again with the right mares, he has prospects of getting some high-class sprinters too. He looks a likely candidate to get some stakes and pattern winners. MORPHEUS (GB) – b.2010 – Oasis Dream – Kind, 3 wins. Sire in Ireland. First foals in 2016. FOALS CATALOGUED (updated)

Timeform rated him 116p at two after he won the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes and had been beaten by just a neck when runner-up to Reckless Abandon in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes, his grandam won the Group 3 C L Weld Park Stakes at that age,. He covered 62 mares in his first season at Rathbarry Stud. In addition to that pattern success, Theoretically (by Theatrical) was placed in both the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks and Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup, and she is the dam of the US Grade 3 scorer Niagara Causeway (by Giant's Causeway). The third dam of Moohaajim is an unraced mare called Aspern (by Riverman), her five blacktype progeny also included the Group 1 Prix Lupin winner and Group 1 Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby) third Cudas (by Seattle Song), and her descendants include the Argentine-bred Grade 1 scorer Pataques (by Catcher In The Rye) and a couple of Brazilian Grade 2 winners. Her half-brother Vilagro (by Targowice) was a big winner in Belgium, but her half-sister Princess Kathy (by Luthier) is more notable even though she was only stakes placed. That is because she became the dam of the dual Group 2 Prix de l'Opera winner Athyka (by Secretariat) and she is the grandam of both the classic-placed Grade 1 scorer Atticus (by Nureyev) and of Group 1 Premio Lydia Tesio winner Dubai Surprise (by King's Best). There are various other blacktype horses to be found within these first four generations of the pedigree, but nothing that gives us any additional clues as to how Moohaajim might fare as a stallion. He looks a likely candidate to get winners at all ages, mostly sprinters and milers. Winner of just one of his four starts as a juvenile, which was a mile maiden in heavy ground at the Curragh in October, Magician improved considerably over the winter, made a winning reappearance in the Group 3 Dee Stakes at Chester, followed that with a three and a half length defeat of Gale Force Ten in the Group 1 Irish 2000 Guineas, and rounded off his season with a half-length win over The Fugue in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Turf at Santa Anita.
He won just once from six starts as a four-year-old, narrowly beating Parish Hall in the Group 3 Mooresbridge Stakes over 10 furlongs at the Curragh, but was runner-up to Noble Mission in the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup, to The Fugue in the Group 1 Prince of Wales's Stakes, and to Hardest Core in the Grade 1 Arlington Million. He stands at Coolmore's US farm, Ashford Stud, but has a few foals catalogued for sale in Europe.
The son of Galileo (by Sadler's Wells) is out of the listed sprint winner Absolutelyfabulous (by Mozart), which makes him a full-brother to the Grade 1-placed stakes winner Outstandingly, and his grandam, Lady Windermere (by Lake Coniston) is out of the one-time scorer Brigid (by Irish River).
A full-sister to Or Vision, who is the stakes-winning dam of the Group/Grade 1 scorers Dolphin Street (by Bluebird), Insight (by Sadler's Wells) and Saffron Walden (by Sadler's Wells), Brigid is the dam of the Group 1 stars Listen (by Sadler's Wells) and Sequoyah (by Sadler's Wells). The former is the dam of the Group 1-placed Japanese Group 2 winner Touching Speech (by Deep Impact), and Sequoyah's brightest star is the classic-winning miler and Coolmore stallion Henrythenavigator (by Kingmambo). His early Group/Grade 1-winning sons George Vancouver and Pedro The Great had their first yearlings on offer in 2016. Sequoyah is also the dam of Queen Cleopatra (by Kingmambo), who won the Group 3 Derrinstown Stud 1000 Guineas Trial Stakes and was placed in both the Group 1 Irish 1000 Guineas and Group 1 Prix de Diane (French Oaks) before going on to become a successful broodmare. She is the dam of the Australian Group 3 scorer Francis Of Assisi (by Danehill Dancer) and her pattern-placed stakes-winning daughter Look At Me (by Danehill Dancer) is the dam of juvenile listed scorer Kind Of Magic (by Galileo). There are many other stakes and pattern winners to be found in the various branches of this family, including the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes scorer Beethoven (by Oratorio), but they do not tell us anything more about Magician's potential as a stallion. He is a well-bred, classic-winning son of Galileo and there would not any reason why he should not be capable of siring stakes and pattern winners. His early stallion sons have showed plenty of potential, several of them already have at least one top-level winner to their name, and New Approach is one of the best of them. The juvenile star became a Derby and Champion Stakes hero at three. His first crop included a trio of Royal Ascot-winning blacktype two-year-olds, and by the end of the following season that initial group of offspring featured the Group 1 2000 Guineas hero Dawn Approach, the Group 1 Oaks winner and Group 1 St Leger runner-up Talent, and the Group 1 Derby runner-up Libertarian. The latter, who won the Group 2 Dante Stakes and finished fourth (no blacktype) to Leading Light in the Group 1 St Leger, is now among the early Galileo grandsons at stud and this Knockhouse Stud stallion, who is being marketed for the National Hunt sector, has some of his first foals on offer. A half-brother to the Group 1-placed pattern scorer Prince Siegfried (by Royal Applause) and to the French listed race winner Bigzam (by Zamindar), Libertarian is out of Intrum Morshaan (by Darshaan), a winning half-sister to the US Grade 3 scorer Coney Kitty (by Lycius). His stakes-placed third dam, Midnight Child (by Manado), was a half-sister to the multiple listed-placed Never A Lady (by Pontifex) and that mare's descendants include the prolific Group 1 star and classic sire Halling (by Diesis). The Sadler's Wells sire line has had a tremendous impact on both the flat and National Hunt sectors and so it is a fair bet that Libertarian will eventually join its roll of honour as a sire of blacktype-winning hurdlers and chasers. The impact that the triple Group 1 star and dynasty-making stallion has had on both flat and National Hunt circles has been remarkable and so it is understandable that breeders will flock to his male line descendants, especially when those horses were racehorses of the calibre of Leading Light.
A 520,000gns yearling buy, the Aidan O'Brien trainee was an odds-on winner of the Group 3 Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh on his fourth start, followed that with defeat of Feels Like Dancing in the Group 3 Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot and was not seen out again until beating that year's Oaks heroine Talent in the Group 1 St Leger at Doncaster. He finished down the field in the Arc three weeks later but returned as a four-year-old to take the Group 3 Vintage Crop Stakes and Group 3 Curragh Cup, both times chased home by the Group 1 Irish St Leger scorer Royal Diamond, and between those two wins he narrowly beat Missunited to take the Group 1 Gold Cup at Ascot.
He chased home the runaway winner Brown Panther in the Group 1 Irish St Leger on his penultimate start, headed to Grange Stud in Co Cork a few months later and covered more mares in his first season than many popular horses do in their first few years combined: a total of 320.
There are some flat-bred mares as dams of his large first crop, but Leading Light is primarily a National Hunt stallion, which means that it will be the 2019/20 season before we start to see many of his early runners in action, likely in bumpers, maiden hurdles and point-to-points. He is out of Dance Parade (by Gone West), who won the Group 3 Queen Mary Stakes over five furlongs at Ascot as a two-year-old and the Group 3 Fred Darling Stakes over seven at Newbury the following spring. His grandam is the pattern-placed Italian stakes winner River Jig (by Irish River), a mare whose siblings include the dam of Group 1 Underwood Stakes winner and talented French stayer Always Aloof (by Alleged). It was to be expected that he will have a lot of progeny who are inbred to Sadler's Wells (by Northern Dancer), many will also show inbreeding to Nijinsky (by Northern Dancer) and to Top Ville (by High Top), and the presence of Always Aloof in his family shows that Alleged (by Hoist The Flag) clicked with his family. Whether that matters at all within the National Hunt context is open to debate, and Leading Light's appeal and potential as a sire of hurdlers and chasers stems from his top-class racing record, his physique and his sire line. LEADING LIGHT (IRE) – b.2010 – Montjeu – Dance Parade, 8 wins inc Gold Cup (Gr1), St Leger (Gr1), Gallinule Stakes (Gr3), St Leger Trial (Gr3), Vintage Crop Stakes (Gr3), Queen's Vase (Gr3), 2nd Irish St Leger (Gr1). This Group 1-winning son of Galileo (by Sadler's Wells) spent one season under the Coolmore banner, covering just 39 mares, and then he moved to Drakenstein Stud in South Africa. The Group 1-siring Galileo stallions include Rip Van Winkle and that horse's fourth dam, House Tie (by Be Friendly), is the third dam of Kingsbarns.
He is a half-brother to the pattern winning fillies Belle Artiste (by Namid) and Sweeter Still (by Rock of Gibraltar), his dam, Beltisaal (by El Gran Senor) is a half-sister to the Group 2-placed stakes winner Kafhar (by In The Wings), and his grandam, Ittisaal (by Caerleon), is a half-sister to two mares of particular note.
Twine (by Thatching) gave us the Group 1-placed Group 2 scorer, Grade 1 Champion Hurdle hero and successful National Hunt sire Alderbrook (by Ardross), she is also responsible for the blacktype winners Restructure (by Danehill), Royal Strand (by Royal Academy) and Native Twine (by Be My Native), she is the grandam of the Group 3 scorer Tahreeb (by Indian Ridge) and third dam of this year's Group 3 Dick Poole Stakes winner Madam Dancealot (by Sir Prancealot).
Tea House (by Sassafras), on the other hand, was a listed-race winner and, in addition to being the dam of the US Grade 1 scorer Danish (by Danehill) and of the multiple Group 1-placed pattern winners Ace (by Danehill) and Hawkeye (by Danehill), her descendants include the Group 1 Dubai World Cup star African Story (by Pivotal). The aforementioned Rip Van Winkle connection comes through Jamaican Punch (by Shareef Dancer), an unraced half-sister to Tea House, Twine and Ittisaal. Her winning daughter Mustique Dream (by Don't Forget Me) is the dam of Looking Back (by Stravinsky), and that filly became the stakes-placed dam of the Group 1 Juddmonte International Stakes, Group 1 Sussex Stakes and Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes hero. KINGSBARNS (IRE) – b.2010 – Galileo – Beltisaal, 2 wins inc Racing Post Trophy (Gr1), 2nd Royal Whip Stakes (Gr3), 3rd Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (Gr1), Heritage Stakes (L). Nothing is guaranteed in this business, but there can be no doubt that Kingman is one of the most exciting horses to have gone to stud in recent decades. Horses such as Sadler's Wells, Galileo and Sea The Stars had such obvious potential when they began their stallion careers, and although Kingman has a monumental task ahead of him to join that elite trio, it is hard to imagine him failing to get winners at the highest levels.
He was a brilliant racehorse, a Timeform 134-rated champion and classic star, a high-class two-year-old who went on to win four Group 1s over a mile, and he has covered an outstanding first book of 143 mares at Banstead Manor Stud. What makes him such an exciting prospect is that all of this is backed up by a stallion's pedigree. He is a son of the Group 1-winning sprinter Invincible Spirit (by Green Desert), whose early stallion sons include the Group 1-siring horses Lawman and I Am Invincible, and he is out of Zenda (by Zamindar), the Group 1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas) winning half-sister to the triple Group 1 star and outstanding stallion Oasis Dream (by Green Desert). Their dam, Hope (by Dancing Brave), is an unraced full-sister to the Group 1 Irish Oaks heroine Wemyss Bight and her offspring include the four-times Group/Grade 1 star Beat Hollow (by Sadler's Wells), a sire of top-level winners on the flat and under National Hunt rules. Hope's siblings also include the dam of Group 1-winning stayer Reefscape (by Linamix), of Group 2 scorers Bellamy Cay (by Kris), Coastal Path (by Halling) and Martaline (by Linamix). Bahamian (by Mill Reef), the Group 2 Prix de Pomone runner-up and Listed Oaks Trial scorer who is the third dam of Kingman, is also the third dam of the recent Group 2 Prix Chaudennay scorer Doha Dream (by Shamardal) and of New Bay (by Dubawi), another potential sire of note whenever he takes up his stallion role. New Bay won the Group 1 Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby) and Group 2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano last year, he chased home Make Believe in the Group 1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas) and was third to Golden Horn in the Group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. In 2016 he has added an odds-on success in the Group 3 Prix Gontaut Biron and he finished fourth to Almanzor in that vintage edition of the Group 1 Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown. This famous Juddmonte family is one of the strongest in the stud book. It has already given us an elite stallion in Oasis Dream, and with Kingman being so closely related to that Banstead Manor Stud standout, there is every reason to hope that he too can become one of the best sires in Europe. KINGMAN (GB) – b.2011 – Invincible Spirit – Zenda, 7 wins inc Prix Jacques le Marois (Gr1), Sussex Stakes (Gr1), Irish 2000 Guineas (Gr1), St James's Palace Stakes (Gr1), Greenham Stakes (Gr3), Solario Stakes (Gr3), 2nd 2000 Guineas (Gr1). Sire in England. First foals in 2016.

Jet Away is among the best bred horses at stud, but this Timeform 118-rated son of Cape Cross (by Green Desert) is standing as a National Hunt stallion and so will have few representatives appearing in public over the next few years. He stands at Arctic Tack Stud in Co Wexford and he covered 180 mares in his first season.
He is by the sire of Sea The Stars, his unraced dam Kalima (by Kahyasi) is an unraced full-sister sister to two stakes winners, and that pair are Arrive and the phenomenal Hasili. Arrive won the Listed Bahrain Trophy and she is the dam of Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Promising Lead (by Danehill). She is also responsible for the Grade 1-placed dual pattern scorer Visit (by Oasis Dream) and she is the grandam of the Group 3 Autumn Stakes winner Commemorative (by Zamindar). Hasili, of course, is not only the dam of the Group/Grade 1 stars Banks Hill (by Danehill), Cacique (by Danehill), Champs Elysees (by Danehill), Heat Haze (by Green Desert) and Intercontinental (by Danehill), but also of the Group 1-placed pattern scorer Deluxe (by Storm Cat) and of the multiple Group 1-placed Group 2 miler Dansili (by Danehill). The latter is one of the best sires around and the early results from his stallion sons are very promising. Cacique has sired Group 1 winners, Champs Elysees has sired pattern winners, while Banks Hill is the dam of the Breeders' Cup-placed Group 1 star Romantica (by Galileo) and of the Group 2-placed multiple stakes winner Ideal World (by Kingmambo), who has made a promising start to his stallion career in South Africa where his progeny include the multiple Group 1 heroine Smart Call. Others produced from siblings of Kalima include the Grade 1 star and classic sire Leroidesanimaux (by Candy Stripes), and Kerali (by High Line), the winning grandam of Jet Away, was out of the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Sookera (by Roberto), which made her a half-sister to the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes scorer So Factual (by Known Fact). There are many others of note within the branches of these first three generations of the pedigree. Jet Away is an exceptionally well-bred horse and this 10-furlong Group 3 scorer is one of the most interesting stallions to retire directly to a National Hunt stud in recent years. JET AWAY (GB) – b.2007 – Cape Cross – Kalima, 8 wins inc Easter Cup (Gr3), Festival Stakes (L), 2nd Rose of Lancaster Stakes (Gr3), Tapster Stakes (L), 3rd Pontefract Castle Stakes (L). The roll of honour also includes the pattern-winning sprinter Heeraat, a Mickley Stud stallion who covered 97 mares in his first season and has a selection of foals on offer in the coming weeks. He won once from three starts at two, two from eight at three, got his Group 3 win at four and earned a Timeform rating of 118. Heeraat is a half-brother to the Listed Dragon Stakes winner and Group 3 Molecomb Stakes third Ambiance (by Camacho) and his dam, Thawrah (by Green Desert), is an unraced half-sister to the Group 1 Golden Jubilee Stakes winner Malhub (by Kingmambo), a blacktype sire in South Africa, and to the US Grade 3 scorer Dhaamer (by Dubai Destination). Thawrah's siblings also include her full-sister Nebraas and what makes that one notable is that she is the dam of the dual Group 3 scorer Yellow Rosebud (by Jeremy), of pattern-placed stakes winner Seeharn (by Pivotal), and of this year's stakes-placed two-year-old Megan Lily (by Dragon Pulse). Arjuzah (by Ahonoora), who won the Listed Sceptre Stakes and finished third in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes, is the grandam of Heeraat and this half-sister to listed scorer Ormsby (by Ela-Mana-Mou) was a full-sister to Missing You, the stakes-placed grandam of the juvenile stakes winners Dubai Dynamo (by Kyllachy) and Sadeek (by Kyllachy). If you go back to the fourth generation of the family then you will find branches that lead to the Group/Grade 1 winners Mourjane (by Pitskelly), Anka Germania (by Malinowski), Deputy Commander (by Deputy Minister), and Sudirman (by Henrythenavigator), along with a string of other stakes and pattern winners who including the Group 1-placed sprinter and successful sire Dandy Man (by Mozart). The relationship of those horses to Heeraat is remote, but as a talented Dark Angel horse who has Green Desert as a broodmare sire and a leading sprinter among his close relations, he has the potential to sire some talented sprinters and milers. Like Es Que Love, who also has his first foals this year, Gregorian is a Group 2-winning son of the classic miler Clodovil (by Danehill). Both were bred by Rathasker Stud, both are members of that farm's stallion roster, although Gregorian stands for them at the National Stud in Newmarket. He covered 119 mares in his first season.
He won a seven-furlong Doncaster maiden on the last of three starts as a juvenile, he won twice at three and was placed in both the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat and Group 1 St James's Palace Stakes, and got his best results at the ages of four and five, rated 122 by Timeform in both those campaigns. In addition to his Group 1 mile placings at three, the grey was also placed in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes and in the Group 1 July Cup. His best wins came in the Group 2 Hungerford Stakes over seven at Newbury, in the Group 3 Criterion Stakes over the same trip at Newmarket, and in the Group 3 Diomed Stakes over the extended mile at Epsom.
This grandson of Danehill (by Danzig) is a full-brother to the stakes-placed filly Manderley and he is out of Three Days In May (by Cadeaux Genereux), a winning half-sister to the Group 1-placed dual stakes-winning sprinter Balmont Mast (by Balmont).
Her siblings also include the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes runner-up Crazee Mental (by Magic Ring) and that grand-daughter of Green Desert (by Danzig) is best-known as being the dam of Premio Loco (by Prized). A five-times Group 2-scorer whom Timeform rated 122 at his peak, that gelding's record also includes Group 1 placings in the Lockinge Stakes and Sussex Stakes. Corn Futures (by Nomination), the winning grandam of Gregorian, was a half-sister to the dam of the Group 2-placed stakes winner and leading National Hunt sire Midnight Legend (by Night Shift), and the next dam, Hay Reef (by Mill Reef), could be described as being a three-parts sister to the Group 1 Irish 2000 Guineas scorer Wassl. Like most by his great sire, he was a poor stallion. Wassl's dam, Hayloft (by Tudor Melody), was a half-sister to Hay Reef. She won the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes, was third in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes, and her descendants also include the dual Group 1-winning sprinter Twilight Son (by Kyllachy), who will stand at Cheveley Park Stud in 2017, Group 1-placed pattern scorer and Throckmorton Court Stud stallion Music Master (by Piccolo), whose first foals will arrive in the spring, and the prolific Group 1 star and multiple South African champion What A Winter (by Western Winter). A pattern-placed stakes-winner at two, Group 1-placed Group 2 scorer over seven furlongs at three, and Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest star at four, Cheveley Park Stud stallion Garswood was understandably popular in his first season, covering 100 mares.
He is a son of that farm's classic-placed Group 1 winner Dutch Art (by Medicean), as is the dual Group 1-winning sprinter and first-foals sire Slade Power, and so represents the Machiavellian branch of the Mr Prospector (by Raise a Native) line. The first foal out of the unraced Penchant (by Kyllachy), he is out of a mare who could be described as being a three-parts sister to Infallible (by Pivotal). She won the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes, she was runner-up in both the Group 1 Coronation Stakes and Group 1 Falmouth Stakes, and in addition to the pattern-placed stakes-winning filly Intimation (by Dubawi), she is the dam of Group 2 Summer Mile Stakes scorer and Group 1 Juddmonte International Stakes third Mutakayyef (by Sea The Stars).
A full-sister to the blacktype-placed sprinters Watchable and Remarkable, Infallible is out of Irresistible (by Cadeaux Genereux), a listed race winner who was runner-up in the Group 3 Brownstown Stakes. That mare, the grandam of Garswood, is, in turn, out of Polish Romance (by Danzig) and that makes her a half-sister to several dams of stakes winners.
Her grandsons include the listed scorer and Group 1 Prix Morny third Parliament Square (by Acclamation) and her grand-daughters include Group 3 Prix du Calvados winner Queen Bee (by Le Havre), German listed scorer Tickle Me Blue (by Iffraaj), and current three-year-old Eternally (by Dutch Art), who won a seven-furlong listed contest at Ascot at the start of October. The fourth dam of Garswood is another notable as she, Some Romance (by Fappiano), won the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes and Grade 1 Matron Stakes and was placed in each of the Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks, Grade 1 Las Virgenes Stakes, Grade 1 Monmouth Oaks and Grade 1 Ashland Stakes. Her Grade 1-winning half-brother Vilzak (by Green Dancer) sired several stakes winners. Garswood should be capable of getting sprinters and milers among all age groups and it seems likely that there will be some stakes and pattern winners among them, including a few who can perform with credit at the highest level. GARSWOOD (GB) – b.2010 – Dutch Art – Penchant, 4 wins inc Prix Maurice de Gheest (Gr1), Lennox Stakes (Gr2), European Free Handicap (L), Harry Rosebery Stakes (L), 2nd Criterion Stakes (Gr3), Cornwallis Stakes (Gr3), 3rd Prix de la Foret (Gr1).
