A leading juvenile who became a top-class miler, Olympic Glory is by the sire of Starspangledbanner and so he represents the powerful Danehill (by Danzig) sire line. He stands at Haras de Bouquetot in Normandy, France, and covered 168 mares in his first season. Timeform rated him 116 at two, 132 at three, and 130 at the age of four.
His winning dam Acidanthera (by Alzao) is a grand-daughter of the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes heroine Amaranda (by Bold Lad IRE), a filly who was runner-up in the Group 1 Flying Childers Stakes and who was rated 115 by Timeform at both two and three years of age.
Her descendants include the Group 1-placed pattern scorers Wootton Rivers (by Woodman) and Magellano (by Miswaki), who stayed middle-distances, plus several stakes winners who were speedy types, and her dam was 1971's Irish 1000 Guineas heroine Favoletta (by Baldric II), also Timeform 115-rated.
Favoletta was the dam of the classic-placed Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes winner Favoridge (by Riva Ridge), her descendants include the Group 2 Premio Parioli (Italian 2000 Guineas) scorer Rattle And Hum (by Celtic Swing) and also the Group 1 Derby-placed Group 1 St Leger star Rule Of Law (by Kingmambo). This is the famous Horama (by Panorama) family that was influential for so long and whose classic stars include Lacquer (by Shantung), Give Thanks (by Relko), Harayir (by Gulch), Teenoso (by Youth) and Sir Percy (by Mark of Esteem), but those horses are so remotely connected to Olympic Glory as to have no relevance to his potential. There is an interesting relation much closer up on the page, one who could easily be missed as he had no blacktype, but the Royal Hunt Cup winner Imperial Ballet (by Sadler's Wells), a half-brother to the grandam of Olympic Glory, sired the Group 1-winning sprinter Imperial Beauty from limited opportunities. So although he represents a somewhat weak branch of what was a famous family, his race record, sire line, breeders support, and that one notable achievement for his male relative combine to suggest that Olympic Glory has the potential to get stakes and pattern winners at all ages, and that he may be capable of getting the occasional one or two that are as talented as he was.
