Talented middle-distance horse Vif Monsieur (by Doyen) is a grandson of Sadler's Wells (by Northern Dancer) and he begins his new career at Haras de Longechaux in France.
For a brief time he had a Group 1 win to his name as, having been third past the post in a rough Preis von Europa at Cologne, the first two were disqualified on the day for interference. After an appeal, the original first past the post, Meandre, was reinstated as the winner and Vif Monsieur was placed second. He is likely to attract plenty of attention from National Hunt breeders, especially if his full-sister takes to the new phase of her racing career. Vive Ma Fille is a multiple stakes-placed winner on the flat but finished a one-length third in a novice hurdle at Wincanton earlier this week, her jumping debut. Their dam, Vive Madame (by Big Shuffle), is a half-sister to the pattern-placed stakes winner Viletta (by Doyen) and their fifth dam is Valoris (by Tiziano), the Oaks and Irish 1000 Guineas heroine of 1966. VIF MONSIEUR (GER) – b/br.2010 – Doyen – Vive Madame, 7 wins inc Niederrhein-Pokal (Gr3-twice), Hubertus-Liebrecht-Gedachtnispreis (Gr3), Fruhjahrs-Preis des Bankhauses Metzler (Gr3), Grand Prix – Aufgalopp (L), Preis Henkel-Trophy (L), 2nd Preis von Europa (Gr1), 3rd International Bosphorus Cup (Gr2), Grand Prix de Vichy (Gr3).
