This high-class grandson of Danehill Dancer (by Danehill) was Timeform-rated 113 at two, 118 at three, and 111 at both four and five years of age. He was precocious and durable, a juvenile Group 2 scorer who finished third to Mecca's Angel in the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes at three and whose wins also includes Group 3 success at the Curragh.
Mattmu, who begins his new career at Bearstone Stud in Shropshire in 2018*, is out of the prolific sprinter Katie Boo (by Namix), his siblings include the multiple winning fillies Penny Garcia (by Indesatchel) and Rose Eclair (by Major Cadeaux), and his grandam is the stakes-placed juvenile Misty Peak (by Sri Pekan).
That mare produced two blacktype earners, as did her own unraced dam Miss Declared (by Alleged), and the fourth dam of Mattmu is Greida (by Far North), a seven-times scorer in the USA who won twice at listed level and whose siblings include Helen Christine (by Northern Jove). That mare is the dam of the Argentine juvenile champion Handsome Halo (by Southern Halo), a dual Grade 1 star who has enjoyed some success as a stallion and whose offspring include the Grade 1-winning sprinter Rufus.
