Remus De La Tour is among the late additions to the European stallion ranks for 2017 and the talented son of Stormy River (by Verglas) begins his new career at Haras de la Hermeraie in France.
A seven-furlong winner at Vichy in July of his two-year-old season, he went on to become a smart middle-distance horse, getting the best of his seven wins in the Group 3 Prix du Lys at Chantilly. The 17 races in which he was placed included the Group 2 Grand Prix de Chantilly and the Group 3 Prix d'Hedouville, the latter at Longchamp. He is out of an unplaced mare called Calithea (by Marju) and she is also responsible for the Listed Prix Finlande winner and Group 3 Prix Cleopatre runner-up Chill (by Verglas), who could be described as being a three-parts sister to Remus De La Tour. Chill is the dam of the stakes-placed American winner Llanita (by Rock Of Gibraltar) and also of Childa (by Duke Of Marmlade), a French listed scorer who finished third in the Group 2 Prix du Conseil de Paris. Queen Caroline (by Chief's Crown), the grandam of Remus De La Tour, was out of the unraced Fager's Glory (by Mr Prospector), which made her a half-sister to the classic-placed pattern scorer Glory Forever (by Forever Casting) and also to Rahaam (by Secreto), a one-time winner who has become hugely influential at stud. Her star son is the aforementioned classic-placed juvenile pattern winner Verglas (by Highest Honor), which makes Remus De La Tour inbred 4x3 to Fager's Glory. He stood in France and at the Irish National Stud, he sired the Group 1 winners Glass Harmonium, Silver Frost, and Stormy River, but sadly died when just 17 years old. His stakes-winning half-sister Persian Secret (by Persian Heights) is the dam of the pattern-winning sprinter Do The Honours (by Highest Honor) and also of Seba (by Alzao), the Listed Chesham Stakes winner who went on to take third place in the Grade 1 Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park. The bulk of the family's success, however, has come from Rahaam's daughter Cassandra Go (by Indian Ridge). She won the Group 2 King's Stand Stakes and Group 2 Temple Stakes, she chased home Mozart in the Group 1 July Cup, and the best of her trio of pattern winners is Halfway To Heaven (by Pivotal), who won the Group 1 Irish 1000 Guineas, Group 1 Nassau Stakes, and Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes. The other pair are Group 3 Abernant Stakes winner Tickled Pink (by Invincible Spirit) and Group 3 Summer Stakes winner Theann (by Rock Of Gibraltar), and Cassandra Go is also the grandam of runaway Grade 1 mile star Photo Call (by Galileo) and of last year's leading juvenile Rhododendron (by Galileo), impressive winner of the Group 1 Dubai Fillies' Mile at Newmarket in October.
