A classic winner who was unraced at two and a Group 1 winner over 10 furlongs in Australia at the age of five, Reliable Man is one of eight top-level scorers by the recently retired Dalakhani (by Darshaan) and he stands at Gestut Rottgen in Germany.
His blacktype-winning siblings include the Group 1-placed dual pattern scorer Imposing (by Danehill Dancer) and his stakes-winning dam On Fair Stage (by Sadler's Wells) is out of the dual classic star Fair Salinia (by Petingo). She won both the Oaks and Irish Oaks in 1978, she also won the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks, was runner-up in the Group 1 1000 Guineas and in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes, and her progeny also included the Group 3 Prix Quincey scorer Perfect Vintage (by Shirley Heights) and the talented filly Perfect Circle (by Caerleon). The latter won the Listed Sceptre Stakes and was runner-up in both the Group 3 Musidora Stakes and Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes. Fair Salinia, a daughter of the dual winner Fair Arabella (by Chateaugay), was also responsible for the Grade 2 Red Smith Handicap scorer Rambo Dancer (by Northern Dancer), who enjoyed some success as a stallion in England and in South Africa, and her siblings also include two fillies who got a notable result at stud.
Forli's Flair (by Thatch) was the dam of top French juvenile filly Wixon (by Fioravanti), who won the Group 3 Prix du Petit Couvert and was runner-up in the Group 2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte, and Princess Arabella (by Crowned Prince) came up with the listed scorer Nordica (by Northfields).
That filly, in turn, became the dam of Sueboog (by Darshaan), the Group 3 Fred Darling Stakes winner and Group 2 Nassau Stakes third whose star son, Best Of The Bests (by Machiavellian), won the Group 1 Prix d'Ispahan and was placed in a string of other Group 1 events. Shaanmer (by Darshaan), another of Nordica's grandsons, won the Group 3 Prix des Chenes and was placed in races such as the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris and Group 1 Prix Jean Prat. If you go back another generation then you will find that Fair Arabella, the third dam of Reliable Man, was a half-sister to Faraway Son (by Ambiopoise), who won the Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte at two, was placed in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas) at three, and won both the Group 1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp and Group 1 Prix de la Foret at four. He was later a successful sire whose progeny include the multiple Grade 1 star Waya, juvenile Grade 1 scorer Officer's Ball, and high-class sprinter Boitron, among others of note. The best progeny of his pattern-winning half-brother Liloy (by Bold Bidder) included the dual Grade 1 star Reloy and Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris scorer Swink. Their unraced half-sister also did her part for the family as she became the dam of the Group 1 Prix Ganay and Group 1 Prix d'Ispahan winner Baillamont (by Blushing Groom), and he too sired blacktype winners at stud, including the dual Group 1-winning filly Sierra Madre. Those three stallions are remotely connected to Reliable Man, but their presence in the family, along with that of Rambo Dancer, show that this is a family that has a proven record of being able to produce colts who can go on to sire winners at all levels. RELIABLE MAN (GB) – gr.2008 – Dalakhani – On Fair Stage, 5 wins inc Prix du Jockey Club (Gr1), Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Gr1), Prix Niel (Gr2), 2nd La Coupe de Maisons-Laffitte (Gr3), 3rd Grand Prix de Paris (Gr1), Prix Ganay (Gr1). Sire in Germany. First foals in 2015.

He made a winning return to action in the Listed European Free Handicap, was placed in a string of good events that season, including the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, and finished the campaign with victory in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes at Newmarket, earning a Timeform rating of 125. He showed plenty of ability at four, five and six years of age, but arguably not quite as good as what he showed as a three-year-old. One of more than 60 stakes winners for former juvenile champion Johannesburg (by Hennessy), Red Jazz is by the sire of Grade 1 winner and leading sire Scat Daddy, the late Ashford Stud stallion whose current European stars include juvenile Group 1 scorers Caravaggio and Lady Aurelia. He is out Now That's Jazz (by Sword Dance), who is a half-sister to two stakes winners, and his grandam, Mardi Gras Mambo (by Tampa Trouble) is a five-times scorer who is related to several stakes winners and comes from a distant branch of the family of US Grade 1 star Charon (by Mo Exception) and Japanese champion Just A Way (by Heart's Cry). Red Jazz, who stands at Ballyhane Stud, has 98 known individuals in his first crop so he won't be short of representation. He looks likely to get juveniles, sprinters and milers. A precocious and undefeated dual Group 1 star as a juvenile, Reckless Abandon did not become the top sprinter he had promised to be, but the grandson of Danzig (by Northern Dancer) had already done enough to secure a good spot at stud.
Sadly, he had fertility issues, was withdrawn from service at Kildangan Stud part-way through his first season, gelded and put into training, earning two listed-race placings from three starts. There are 14 known members of his sole crop.
The second foal out of dual winner Sant Elena (by Efisio), he is out of a half-sister to nine and 10-furlong Grade 1 scorer Ticker Tape (by Royal Applause) and to this year's Group 2-placed Group 3-winning sprinter Brando (by Pivotal). Ticker Tape's grandson War Decree (by War Front) won the Group 2 Qatar Vintage Stakes at Goodwood a few weeks ago.
Their dam, Argent Du Bois (by Silver Hawk), is a half-sister to the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy winner and Grade 1 Pacific Classic runner-up Crowded House (by Rainbow Quest), and his fourth dam is the dual Grade 2 scorer Chapel Of Dreams (by Northern Dancer). In addition to being the grandam of the US Grade 2 scorer Postponed (by Summer Squall), that mare is out of the Grade 1-placed triple Grade 2 winner Terlingua (by Secretariat) and so she is a half-sister to the Grade 1 winner and dynasty-making stallion Storm Cat (by Storm Bird), and out of a half-sister to Group 1 star and prolific Group/Grade 1 sire Royal Academy (by Nijinsky). With two-year-old form and a pedigree like this behind him, it is a pity that Reckless Abandon was unable to make the most of his opportunity at stud, and it will be interesting to see if one or more of the handful of offspring he produced can bring his name back to the fore. RECKLESS ABANDON (GB) – b.2010 – Exchange Rate – Sant Elena, 5 wins inc Middle Park Stakes (Gr1), Prix Morny (Gr1), Prix Robert Papin (Gr2), Norfolk Stakes (Gr2), 2nd Scarborough Stakes (L), 3rd Temple Stakes (Gr2), Hopeful Stakes (L). A top-class 10-furlong horse who won once at the highest level, was runner-up in the Group 1 Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby) and twice third in the Group 1 Dubai World Cup, Haras de Bouquetot stallion Planteur is a son of leading sire Danehill Dancer (by Danehill), whose stallion sons include the Group 1 sires Choisir, Mastercraftsman, Monsieur Bond, Silent Times, Air Chief Marshal and Fast Company.
He is the best of several winners out of Plante Rare (by Giant's Causeway), an unraced half-sister to the Group 1-placed middle-distance Group 2 scorers Policy Maker (by Sadler's Wells) and Pushkin (by Caerleon) and also to Group 3 Lancashire Oaks scorer Place Rouge (by Desert King).
The third dam of Planteur is the Group 3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes winner Petroleuse (by Habitat) and that means that Palmeraie (by Lear Fan), his grandam, is a half-sister to Peinture Bleue (by Alydar), the Grade 2-winning dam of Peintre Celebre (by Nureyev).
Europe's champion three-year-old of 1997, when he crowned a classic-winning season with a brilliant display in the Group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, the top-level winners he sired as a member of the Coolmore team include the multiple Group 1 star Pride. There are many other stakes and pattern winners who descend from Petroleuse, but with regard to Planteur's stallion potential they tell us nothing more than we already know, that he's a classic-placed Group 1 winner by a sire of successful stallions and from the immediate family of a classic sire. His three juvenile outings were all over a mile, and resulted in two wins and a second, so it would be reasonable to presume that his better two-year-olds will not be seen until the second half of the season. His racing and pedigree profile suggests that most of his best progeny will be middle-distance horses and stayers, although he could get some milers, with the right mares. PLANTEUR (IRE) – b.2007 – Danehill Dancer – Plante Rare, 7 wins inc Prix Ganay (Gr1), Prix Noailles (Gr2), Prix d'Harcourt (Gr2), Winter Hill Stakes (Gr3), Winter Derby Trial (L), 2nd Prix du Jockey Club (Gr1), Grand Prix de Paris (Gr1), Prix d'Ispahan (Gr1-twice), Prix Niel (Gr2), 3rd Dubai World Cup (Gr1-twice). This grandson of Green Desert (by Danzig) stands at Haras du Hoguenet, in France, and he was one of the most precocious and talented juveniles in that country in 2012. He made his debut over four and a half furlongs at Saint-Cloud in late March, winning by six lengths, and then followed-up with a 12-length score over five furlongs at Chantilly a month later.
He completed a hat-trick with victory in the Listed Prix La Fleche at Maisons-Laffitte in early June and when he was then fourth in the Group 2 Prix Robert Papin and unplaced in the Group 1 Prix Morny, both of which were won by Reckless Abandon, one could have been forgiven for writing him off as just another early-season juvenile that failed to progress. But he was not done yet. The colt ran twice more that year, taking the Group 3 Prix Eclipse over six furlongs in very soft ground at Chantilly and then beating Viztoria by a length to add the Group 2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte over the same trip on heavy ground in early November. Penny's Picnic ran just twice as a three-year-old, taking third behind Style Vendome in the Group 3 Prix Djebel and then finishing last behind that same rival in the Group 1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas).
He is out of Zerky (by Kingmambo), who was placed over a mile in England as a two-year-old, a distance over which her full-sister Penny's Gold excelled. Winner of the Group 3 Prix Quincey and Listed Prix de la Calonne and beaten just head by Zarkiya in the Group 3 Prix de Sandringham when trained in France, that filly went on to add the Grade 3 Ballston Spa Breeders' Cup Handicap over a half-furlong farther at Saratoga. She was also Grade 2-placed over nine furlongs, although beaten by a total of eight lengths on that occasion.
Their dam, Penny's Valentine (by Storm Cat), was third in the Group 2 Premio Regina Elena (Italian 1000 Guineas) and she is also notable as being the grandam of the Group 1-winning Japanese miler Curren Black Hill (by Daiwa Major). Her half-brother Northern Park (by Northern Dancer) and half-sister Mrs Jenney (by The Minstrel) were listed race winners and the latter not only became the dam of Grade 1 star and successful sire Unaccounted For (by Private Account), but she is the third dam of last year's Grade 1 Humana Distaff Stakes winner Dame Dorothy (by Bernardini) and of Mrs Lindsay (by Theatrical), who won the Group 1 Prix Vermeille and Grade 1 E P Taylor Stakes and was runner-up in the Group 1 Prix de Diane (French Oaks). The third dam of Penny's Picnic is, therefore, the dual English champion Mrs Penny (by Great Nephew), winner of the Group 1 Prix de Diane, Group 1 Prix Vermeille, Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes , Group 3 Lowther Stakes and Group 3 Cherry Hinton Stakes, runner-up to Ela-Mana-Mou in the Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and third in both the 1000 Guineas and Irish 1000 Guineas. Her siblings included the dual pattern-placed Cadeaux d'Amie (by Lyphard), who went on to make an impact at stud. That mare's best son was the Grade 1 Shoemaker Breeders' Cup Mile Stakes winner Irish Prize (by Irish River) and her best daughter the Group 1 Champion Stakes, Grade 1 Beverly D Stakes and Group 1 1000 Guineas heroine Hatoof (by Irish River). That champion also won the Group 2 Prix de l'Opera, Group 2 Prix d'Astarte, Grade 2 E P Taylor Stakes and two Group 3 contests, and the races in which she was placed included the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Turf, Group 1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp and Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac. She disappointed as a broodmare, but her stakes-winning half-sister Insijaam (by Secretariat) is the dam of Group 3 Royal Whip Stakes winner Maputo (by Cape Cross) and his Oaks-placed Group 3 Select Stakes-winning half-sister Pictavia (by Sinndar). Set In Motion (by Mr Prospector), who won just once, is the dam of Group 3 scorer Divine Task (by Irish River), and Moonlight Sail (by Irish River), who also won once, is the grandam of the tragically ill-fated Group 1 Irish Derby hero Trading Leather (by Teofilo). Penny's Picnic is inbred 3x3 to Mr Prospector (by Raise A Native), he represents the Green Desert sire line and he is both the fastest and most precocious member of a famous classic family, all of which makes him an interesting prospect. It will be a surprise if he does not get some speedy juveniles, and there is every reason to hope that he could also get some talented performers at up to a mile. PENNY'S PICNIC (IRE) – b.2010 – Kheleyf – Zerky, 5 wins inc Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte (Gr2), Prix Eclipse (Gr3), Prix La Fleche (L), 3rd Prix Djebel (Gr3). Sire in France. First foals in 2015.

A first-crop son of top miler Henrythenavigator (by Kingmambo), Pedro The Great stands at Haras de la Haie Neuve in France, he is out of the Group 3 Prestige Stakes winner Glatisant (by Rainbow Quest) and that makes him a half-brother to Group 1 2000 Guineas scorer and Group 1 sire Footstepsinthesand (by Giant's Causeway), a member of the Coolmore team.
His siblings also include Frappe (by Inchinor), who is the winning dam of Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes winner Thakafaat (by Unfuwain), of classic-placed Grade 1 E P Taylor Stakes heroine Curvy (by Galileo) and of Group 1 Irish 2000 Guineas winner and current freshman sire Power (by Oasis Dream), who is also at Coolmore. Footstepsinthesand's 48 stakes winners include five who have won at the highest level: Chachamaidee, Infiltrada, Sand Bijou, Shamalgan, and Steinbeck (aka Pure Champion) - and his most recent blacktype winners include the Group 2 scorers Hesham and Kaspersky. Power's first crop has already yielded a double-digit tally of winners, headed by the Group 3 Anglesey Stakes winner, Group 2 Railway Stakes runner-up and Group 1 Prix Morny third Peace Envoy. They also include the Group 3 Premio Primi Passi runner-up Biz Power and listed-placed La Force.
Glatisant is a daughter of the Group 2 Nassau Stakes winner Dancing Rocks (by Green Dancer), who is, in turn, out of the Premio Lydia Tesio winner Croda Rossa (by Grey Sovereign). She is a half-sister to the pattern-placed stakes winners Gai Bulga (by Kris) and Rockerlong (by Deploy) and also to three mares who achieved some notable results at stud.
Rainbow Goddess (by Rainbow Quest) is the dam of Mahler (by Galileo), the classic and Melbourne Cup-placed pattern winner getting promising results with his early National Hunt runners. Pippas Song (by Reference Point) is the dam of two listed scorers and she is the grandam of US Grade 2 scorer Lady Lara (by Excellent Art). The third sister is Council Rock (by General Assembly) and she is the dam of the juvenile filly champion Superstar Leo (by College Chapel), who won the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes and was runner-up in both the Group 1 Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp and Group 1 Phoenix Stakes. The mare is also the grandam of Australian Group 1 scorer December Draw (by Medecis), of the pattern-winning sprinter Enticing (by Pivotal) and of Group 2-placed Group 3 Gallinule Stakes scorer Alexander Pope (by Danehill Dancer). Pedro The Great is a half-brother to a notably successful stallion and to the dam of a leading freshman sire, which augurs well for his own prospects of getting blacktype horses and high-class handicappers. PEDRO THE GREAT (USA) – b.2010 – Henrythenavigator – Glatisant, 2 wins inc Phoenix Stakes (Gr1). Sire in France. First foals in 2015.

A leading two-year-old who became a classic star at three and a Group 1 winner in France at four, Gestut Fahrhof stallion Pastorius is a son of leading sire Soldier Hollow (by In The Wings) and so represents the broad Sadler's Wells (by Northern Dancer) line.
He is a full-brother to last year's German juvenile champion Parthenius, and his dam, Princess Li (by Monsun), is a winning grand-daughter of Group 2 ARAG Preis (German 1000 Guineas) heroine Princess Nana (by Bellypha).
That classic scorer is the grandam of the Group 1-placed sprint stakes winner Sunny King (by Desert Sun) and she is a half-sister to Assia (by Royal Academy), the stakes-placed dam of classic-placed Group 2 scorer and German champion Arcadio (by Monsun).
The various other stakes winners in the first four generations of the family include Alys (by Blakeney), the Group 2-placed stakes-winning fourth dam of Pastorius. He should be capable of getting some two-year-old winners, but it is likely that his best results will come when his progeny start racing beyond a mile and he could do very well in his native land. PASTORIUS (GER) – b.2009 – Soldier Hollow – Princess Li, 6 wins inc Deutsches Derby (Gr1), Grosser Dallmayr Preis Bayerisches Zuchtrennen (Gr1), Prix Ganay (Gr1), Preis der Einheit (Gr3), German Racing Herzog von Ratibor Rennen (Gr3), 2nd Winterfavorit-Trial (L), 3rd Grosser Preis von Baden (Gr1). But he was well-beaten in every other race he contested, even when finishing third of four in a 10 furlong Group 3 contest at the Curragh on his penultimate start. The Coolmore team member has 67 known members of his first crop and they include a €70,000 filly bought by Jean-Claude Rouget at the recent Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale. A half-brother to the Group 1 Criterium International scorer Ectot (by Hurricane Run), Most Improved is out of Tonnara (by Linamix), an unraced half-sister to the pattern winners Albisola (by Montjeu) and Johnny Barnes (by Acclamation). They are out of Listed Prix Imprudence scorer Mahalia (by Danehill) and she is also notable as being the grandam of pattern-placed listed race winner Chartreuse (by Lawman) and of this summer's Group 3 scorer Thikriyaat (by Azamour). Mahalia is a half-sister to three other stakes winners, but the most notable of her siblings is the multiple stakes-placed Zivania (by Shernazar) because she went on to become a notably successful broodmare. Her stakes winning progeny include the Group 1-placed Group 2 scorer Ivan Luis (by Lycius), the Group 3 UAE 2000 Guineas winner Stagelight (by Montjeu) and the Group 2-placed listed scorer Zero Problemo (by Priolo). Her Group 3-placed stakes-winning daughter Amathia (by Darshaan) is the dam of Group 3 Winter Hill Stakes winner Distant Memories (by Falbrav) and Grade 1-placed stakes winner Mutatis Mutandis (by Mastercraftsman), and Zivania is also responsible for Hathrah (by Linamix) and Viscaria (by Barathea). The former, who won the Listed Masaka Stakes, was placed in the Group 1 1000 Guineas and Group 2 May Hill Stakes before becoming the dam of Hadaatha (by Sea The Stars), a listed scorer who finished third in the Group 1 Prix de l'Opera. Viscaria, on the other hand, is the grandam of the Group 3 Gladness Stakes and Group 3 Amethyst Stakes scorer Onenightidreamed (by Footstepsinthesand). The fourth dam of Most Improved is the Falmouth Stakes winner Caprera (by Abernant), who was the dam of Group 1 Prix Ganay winner Romildo (by Busted) and of dual Group 3 scorer Pevero (by Busted), and her many talented descendants include the Grade 1-placed US Grade 2 winner Golden Reef (by Mr Prospector), Group 2 Prix Hocquart scorer Arbatax (by Mtoto), Group 1-placed pattern scorer Bocca Baciata (by Big Bad Bob), and classic-placed Group 3 winner Topeka (by Whipper). There are many other talented horses to be found in these distant branches of the family, horses who, like those noted above, are remotely connected to Most Improved. He was a talented racehorse at his best, as he is bred to be, and it looks likely that his best progeny may get their best results from around seven to 10 furlongs, with some staying a bit further. MOST IMPROVED (IRE) – b.2009 – Lawman – Tonnara, 2 wins inc St James's Palace Stakes (Gr1), 3rd Dewhurst Stakes (Gr1), International Stakes (Gr3). Sire in Ireland. First foals in 2015. He himself made 105,000gns as a yearling. Mazameer is out of Straight Miss (by In The Wings), an unraced half-sister to the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere scorer Naaqoos (by Oasis Dream), who has sired winners, and also to Barastraight (by Barathea), a 10-furlong Group 3 winner whose early runners include the Grade 2-placed staying chaser Baie Des Iles. That five-year-old mare was most recently seen in action when sixth in the Grade A Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse in late March. Their dam, Straight Lass (by Machiavellian), was also unraced, the mare is a half-sister to the listed scorer Nash Terrace (by Nashwan) and also to Athene, the winning dam of the contrasting Group 3 scorers Greek Renaissance (by Machiavellian) and Side Saddle (by Saddlers' Hall). The former was a sprinter and the latter a middle-distance horse. Gay Hellene (by Ela-Mana-Mou), the third dam of Mazameer, won the Group 3 Prix de Flore and is a full-sister to Gay Fantastic, the unraced mare whose offspring include Grade 2 winner Moon Solitaire (by Night Shift), Group 3 Gordon Richards Stakes winner Germano (by Generous), a pair of listed scorers, and also the dam of Group 2-placed stakes winner Bahamian Dancer (by Bering; raced in Hong Kong as Industrial Success) and dual New Zealand Group 2 scorer Keyora (by Bachelor Duke). Mazameer's fourth dam is the 1974 Group 1 Irish 1000 Guineas heroine and Group 1 Irish Oaks runner-up Gaily (by Sir Gaylord), the mare from whom prolific Group 1 stars Pilsudski (by Polish Precedent), Youmzain (by Sinndar), Creachadoir (by King's Best) and Japanese champion Fine Motion (by Danehill) descend. With such small numbers, the odds are stacked against Mazameer getting anything more than some capable handicappers. A dual Group 1 star by the sire of successful stallions Manduro, Samum and Shirocco, Gestut Fahrhof-based Maxios is a half-brother to the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe star Bago (by Nashwan), a five-times Group 1 scorer who was a champion at two and three years of age.
Their half-sister Beta (by Selkirk), in contrast, was a pattern-placed stakes-winning sprinter, and as you examine the first few generations of the pedigree it is speed and talent at around a mile that appears most frequently. His dam, Moonlight's Box (by Nureyev), did not race, but as a daughter of 1993's French juvenile filly champion Coup De Genie by Mr Prospector) it was always likely that she would be a success at stud. Her siblings include the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac and juvenile filly champion Denebola (by Storm Cat), multiple Grade 3 scorer Snake Mountain (by A.P. Indy), Group 1-placed Group 3 Prix de Cabourg winner Loving Kindness (by Seattle Slew), and also Glia (by A.P. Indy), a Grade 2-placed dual stakes winner whose grand-daughter Emollient (by Empire Maker) is a four-times Grade 1 star in the USA.
Coup De Genie was out of the Group 1-placed Group 3 Prix d'Aumale winner Coup De Folie (by Halo), one of those remarkable mares that have produced at least three winners at the highest level, and that made her a full-sister to Machiavellian, half-sister to Exit To Nowhere (by Irish River) and also the siblings of several others of note.
Exit To Nowhere won the Group 1 Prix Jacques le Marois and enjoyed some success at stud, classic-placed Hydro Calido (by Nureyev) won the Group 2 Prix d'Astarte, Group 1-placed Ocean Of Wisdom (by Mr Prospector) won the Group 3 Prix la Rochette, and, of course, classic-placed Group 1 star and juvenile champion Machiavellian became a hugely influential stallion. Group 1 winner and French juvenile champion Way Of Light (by Woodman), and the Group/Grade 2 scorers Admiralofthefleet (by Danehill), Calgary Cat (by Cowtown Cat) and Waltzing Matilda (by Danehill Dancer) are others of note who descend from Coup De Folie. There is more than enough in just three first three generation of the pedigree to show why Maxios has a pedigree befitting both a top-class racehorse and a successful stallion, and yet there are many more major players to be found if you go back a bit farther. His fourth dam is Raise The Standard (by Hoist The Flag), which makes Coup De Folie a half-sister to the dam of Group 1 scorer and prolific Group/Grade 1 sire Orpen (by Lure), and the fifth dam is Natalma (by Native Dancer), half-sister to the dams of Arctic Tern (by Sea Bird II) and Halo (by Hail To Reason), and dam of the dynasty-making Grade 1 Kentucky Derby hero Northern Dancer (by Nearctic). Natalma's descendants also include another Group 1 star and dynasty-maker: Danehill (by Danzig) – and both she and her talented dam Almahmoud (by Mahmoud) appear in the direct lineage of many top horses around the world. And as Coup De Folie was by Halo, she was inbred 3x3 to Almahmoud. As a dual Group 1 winner from this most famous of families, it will be fascinating to see how Maxios does as a stallion and it would be no surprise to see him become a leading sire in Germany. MAXIOS (GB) – b.2008 – Monsun – Moonlight's Box, 8 wins inc Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (Gr1), Prix d'Ispahan (Gr1), Prix d'Harcourt (Gr2), La Coupe de Maisons-Laffitte (Gr3), Prix Thomas Bryon (Gr3), 2nd Prix Ganay (Gr1), Grand Prix de Chantilly (Gr2). Sire in Germany. First foals in 2015.
